Fibromyalgia Awareness

Highlighting an invisible illness!

FIBROMYALGIA SURVIVAL AND AWARENESS GUIDE!

Hello and welcome to my website! To visit other pages click on the page title above this message.

I am a 21 year old student and I have fibromyalgia. It took years to find out what was wrong with me so I am trying to increase awareness in the hopes that others will be diagnosed earlier on. This website aims to give fibromyalgia sufferers advice on how to cope and how to increase awareness. Please visit the awareness pages and help me to increase fibromyalgia awareness!

If you have any queries or cannot access some of the information or awareness resources, please send me a message via the "Contact Us" form on www.diagnosesupport.com and I will try to answer your questions or send you the awareness resources as an email attachment.

Announcing the launch of Diagnose Support!

Carla-nl and I have founded DIAGNOSE SUPPORT - an EU foundation that aims to support currently undiagnosed, misdiagnosed and under-diagnosed patients. We also aim to help diagnosed patients in Europe to find coping mechanisms so that they can achieve a better quality of life and re-establish their role in society.

Our current campaign "Give Europe A Voice!" aims to increase awareness about invisible and commonly misdiagnosed illnesses. Check out www.diagnosesupport.com for more information!

Now you can add Diagnose Support on Myspace or Facebook! Check out our myspace page www.myspace.com/diagnosesupport or add the Diagnose Support group on Facebook by searching for us in "Groups"

The tour of awareness presentations has begun!

Please visit www.diagnosesupport.com and sign up to be an advocate for your illness so that you can use our Fibromyalgia and M.E. / C.F.S. Powerpoint Presentations to raise awareness in your area

Other websites to check out...

www.diagnosesupport.com - This is a foundation that Carla-nl and I have set up to help people in the EU with undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed illnesses and to help patients to find ways to cope with their symtoms. It's still in the early stages but we have big ideas! We are going to hold a conference in the UK in August 2007 so please check back for updates.

www.fibromyalgiachat.com - This is the proHealth messageboard, founded by Rich Carson, a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferer who has worked really hard to increase CFS awareness. This man is someone we should all aim to be more like. I highly recommend that all Fibromyalgia / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers join the ProHealth messageboard for advice and support. There are other messageboards out there and I have tried a couple of others, but you can't beat the proHealth one! ProHealth have far more members than any other messageboard.

http://carla-nl.spaces.live.com - a very informative research site created by carla-nl from the proHealth messageboards

http://www.slamdunksapparel.com/ - Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome awareness products designed by a 12 year old girl because her aunt suffers from CFS & FM... now you don't get much more impressive than that! There are also some new holiday items so it's worth checking out again if you've had a look before

http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/the_spoon_theory - great for explaining what it's like to have a chronic illness. Be warned it may make you feel a bit emotional!

http://www.mychronicillness.com/invisibleillness/home.htm - another website dedicated to increasing awareness. This one is for all invisible illnesses and there are some great resources on there that you can download for free.

http://www.tellmeabouttos.com/ - if you have shoulder pain check this out. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is often overlooked in patients who have Fibromyalgia, because the symptoms are so similar. Check out the humour section on this one too - so many of those apply to Fibromyalgia too.

http://www.sleepydust.net/me-cfs-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-video.html - an excellent online video about CFS that you can use to increase awareness and explain CFS to others.

www.jasonnewland.com - Download free pain relief tracks here! This man works hard to help people with chronic pain and does it all for free. Check out his site to reinstate your faith in humanity!

http://fmshmscfs.bravehost.com/ - A great site for anyone with Fibromyalgia, Hypermobility Syndrome or Myalgic Encephalopathy / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

http://www.linkable.org is an online community that includes links to the personal websites of disabled people, disability-related news feeds, home medical supplies, an active message board, audio video chat and many disability-related links and resources
