We stock two kinds of hamster: Syrian and Russian Dwarf. We breed and buy in hamsters.
The Syrian hamsters are better known as Teddy Bear hamsters and are larger than the dwarfs. I recommend Syrians as a first hamster as they are generally more docile than the dwarfs, and being bigger, are easier to handle.
Syrians come in a vast range of colours with Dark-eared White, Sable, Cream, Cinnamon and Golden being the most common colours available in the shop.
Dwarf hamsters are about half the size of the Syrians and are better for children aged 10 years and up. They are brown in colour, with a few exceptions, and have a tell-tale dorsal stripe down their backs.
All hamsters are separated by sex, unless specifically to be sold as pairs.
We breed our own rats, as well as buy in from outside sources.
Common colours include Black-hooded, Pink-eyed White (Albino), Champagne-hooded and Black Berkshire.
Males and females are kept separately, to ensure that no unwanted litters occur, either in the shop or at their new homes.
The rats are all sold in same-sex pairs, unless the new home already have rats, in which case, they can be sold singly.
Fancy rats, such as Siamese and Himilayan, are also occasionally available from Jackalhead Rattery.
