About the KQEC
The KQEC, or Kill QuickEdit Clan, is a group of FFnet users who have an expressed frustration with the QuickEdit feature on FFnet. Started by BakaBokken.

What is QuickEdit? QuickEdit is Fanfiction.net’s editing program that allows users to edit documents after uploading them and before posting them. It is also used on the user bios.

QuickEdit Quirks. QuickEdit is infamous for: taking out symbols (hats, underscores, tildes ((the squiggly lines)), asterisks, brackets, equal signs), crashing browsers (notably Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox and Internet Explorer), mashing paragraphs and sentences together (sometimes it will take out a colon, comma, or hyphen and mash two words together when it isn’t supposed to be that way), and messing up formatting in general (i.e. adding spaces when not needed, dropping text to the next line, moving everything to a weird justification, etc.).

The purpose of this clan is NOT to convince FFnet administration to "give us back our symbols!". According to the administration, the use of non-language symbols within the body of text is not permitted as it is highly unprofessional. While it is understandable that they forbid the use of symbols within the story body, it is not unreasonable to ask to use simple symbols (such as asterisks) for scene breaks, as many professional and published authors have in their works. The auto-editing in the summaries, titles, and chapter titles is also frustrating, as hyphens, colons, and other symbols are removed to create rather sloppy-looking formatting. Hey, those are proper English language symbols we're talking about here!

Also, QuickEdit - although it has improved some - has a nasty tendency to freeze some computers and crash some browsers. This is another concern of many KQEC members.

To join, please e-mail the main e-mail address here at FFnet Petitions (listed below) with the following information:

Subject of E-mail: KQEC -or- Kill QuickEdit Clan
Exact Pen Name at FFnet
Reason for wanting to join the KQEC

Members are also required to place a blurb in their bio at FFnet linking or directing anyone who reads it back to BakaBokken's bio (where the link to this site will be). This is to ensure that actual FFnet pen names are being used, that each FFnet pen name is added to this list with the FFnet user's permission, and that there is some measure of centralized organization.

A list of members is under this paragraph.

Thank you,

P.S. If you'd like to get a hold of me faster than via that e-mail address, please feel free to PM me at FFnet, and I'll get your message. I'd also like to extend a huge thanks to misaoshiru, who was responsible for the previous update. Many thanks for your help, Ame-chan!

I've also gone through the list and weeded out profiles that no longer have the blurb, or the ones who have changed their pen names without notifying us (which happens, understandably... I'm sure this isn't the first thing on folks' minds when they change their pen names, haha). If you were on this list previously and would like to be added back, please e-mail us at ffnetpetitions@gmail.com or PM BakaBokken at FFnet.

Thank you!
