The short answer is no. The Java Web Start technology willl cache the latest version of the program on your computer. Every time you click on that link, it will check to see whether an updated version exists. Only then will it download the whole program. Otherwise, it will run the current version that is cached on your computer.
Starting from version 2009.3, FFGenie has included functionality to update the latest stats automatically from the FFGenie website, so that you don't have go through the rigmarole of downloading from another site. This is performed in the "From Website" button in the top panel. If you want a copy of the file for your own purposes, you can generate one by exporting the stats (under the Actions menu) after you've updated to the latest stats.
I will no longer be updating http://drop.io/ffgenie. I may upload the complete set of files at season's conclusion to the project's sourceforge download page at the end of the season for archival purposes.
Get to a command prompt (In Windows - Start...Run...cmd) or shell terminal. Type 'java -version' and press enter. It should tell you the version number or if Java isn't installed you will get an error message about an unrecognized command 'java'.
OR
You need to delete one file from your system. The file is called 'userteams.txt' and it lies in your user directory under .ffgenie.
In Windows it is C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERNAME\.ffgenie\userteams.txt
I'm not sure what it is under the other operating systems (feedback here would be good).

A quick way to find your team ID. Go here:
http://dreamteam.afl.com.au/?p=topcoaches&overall=1
There are 50 teams listed per page, so divide your teams ranking by 50 to get the page number. e.g team ranked 1206 would be 1206/50 = 24.12 > Round this up to the next whole number, so page 25. Then add the page number to the link in the address bar
http://dreamteam.afl.com.au/?p=topcoaches&overall=1&page=25
Then locate your teams ID number by hovering the mouse over your team names link.
