The Ferns celebrated their 50th anniversary on Friday 14th April 2006 with a challenge of the past players vs. the present players. Lionel Sterry organised the whole event and invited as a special guest MP Jessica Morden. To be honest nobody thought she would turn up for the event, but we were all bowled over when Jessica arrived, a MP who sticks to her word. It was only proper that Jessica kicked of the event and played first lady for the present players scoring a terrific 15 across. The actual game ended up as a draw which I thought was quite fitting. So let’s look forward to the next 50 years and maybe on our 100th anniversary we can invite as our special guest PM Jessica Morden.
