Subic Bay Recreation and Dining |

|
The Subic Bay Yacht Club is probably the number one recreational location in Subic Bay. They have a large swimming pool (with two big slides), restaurants, bowling alleys, a gym, and hotel rooms. JEST (Jungle Environmental Survival Training) Camp is a great place to learn about the Philippine wildlife. JEST is where the US Navy trained their pilots in jungle survival. There is a wildlife gift shop, a zoo, and a place to go camping in the jungle with a guide. Several people have taken some jungle survival courses there. The zoo is popular because it houses a lot of very rare and very cool Philippine exotic animals. Ocean Adventure, a local marine park, is another very popular attraction. They have cool aquariums, with some of the weirdest looking fish in the ocean, a sea lion show (which is really cute) and a whale show. There is also a package where you can go into the water with whales (on a big float with a guide) and feed them, ride them and get your picture taken with them. Ocean Adventure is continually adding to their collection of sea animals and shows, and no membership is required, which is why the marine park is a very popular attraction. A recent opening near Ocean Adventure is Zoobic, a jungle safari and zoo. Zoobic has several types of tigers which can be seen on a mini tour through the jungle and also has a snake display and a zoo containing several types of Philippine and foreign wildlife animals. There is also a go-cart track in Subic, which has recently acquired new go-carts. Several go-cart races with racers from all over the Philippines have been held there, most of them at the SpeedFest Tournament last year, which consisted of go-cart and motocross races. Rentals are available at the track as well. A large tennis center also exists in Subic. A motocross track is next to American Hardware. It is a small track, but good for people who aren't experts. There have been four invitational motocross races there. It is popular for Subic motocrossers, because it isn't a very difficult track - it is built more for beginners and intermediate riders. There is a motorcycle rental store in Olongapo as well. Motorcycles can be rented for the whole day there. They have a selection of Honda XLR 200s and KMX 125s (local versions of the XR 200 and KDX 200). Newly available jet ski rentals have proven to be very popular among tourists and citizens. Jerry's Grill and Scuba Shack both offer jet ski rentals, as well as parasailing. A country club exists in Subic Bay also, The Subic Bay Golf and Country Club. It is a popular spot for golfers (no membership is required for golf), due to the fact that it has an 18 hole golf course. For dining and recreational purposes (other than golf) however, the Subic Bay Yacht Club is a much more preferred area. Diving lessons and sessions are offered through the Scuba Shack restaurant. Many residents here have become certified divers. Women of the World (WOW) is a small organization of women, formed by the women of Subic Bay. It is made up of FedEx women and many other women of different nationalities. WOW has a monthly luncheon and some organized activities, such as bazaars in Manila.
