     Friendship Hose Co. No. 1/Jefferson County Station 4 serves Falls Creek borough as well as Washington Twp in Jefferson County. Station 4 offers QRS services for our coverage area as well as some parts of Sandy Twp and Hormtown., fire/rescue, dive search and recovery, and operations level hazmat.

    Station 4 has approximately 40 active members trained in fire-fighting and rescue. The dive team consists of 3-4 members trained in search and rescue. FCVFD has approximately 10 members that are medically trained as either a first responder or EMT-B. Most of the members are also trained in operations level hazardous materials.

    In late 2006 and early 2007 this department went through every departments nightmare. On the scene of a structure fire in our district we had one of our own go down. At first crew suspected the hot weather to be the major factor. Later that evening a few members recievedthe bad news via cell phone. The member had suffered to brain anuerisims and is in the process of being flown from DuBois Regional Medical Center to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Our member remained in the ICU for several weeks and made a full recovery even with the odds stacked against her.

     A few weeks after this event the department decided that our own personel are not having the proper rehabilitation on scenes where rehab is nessacarry. The department then developed a rehab committe who in return developed Rehab 4. Rehab 4 is equiped with a large tent structure that can either be heated in the winter or air conditioned in the summer, chairs, water coolers, coffee pots, warm food, Gatorade, ice, first aide euipment, lighting, generator, cooled misting fans, propane and much more. All this is held within a 16 foot enclosed aluminum single axel trailer. Since its birth the rehab unit has been used many times and it was found that the care and moral of firefighters who use rehab has been much better then firefighters who do not use rehab.
