While laying in her room, thinking about the move, some strange things happen.

Emily hoped it was a fairy doing the strange things. Other odd things happened while Emily was at school and on the day the mover’s came. Emily hoped it was a fairy again.

Emily had a mystery friend and when moving day arrived, she though she would not see her again and decided to leave her a gift. In return, her friend left Emily something special.

Surprisingly, there are new people moving into the house next door to Emily’s new house. Emily hopes that her new neighbors will have a girl around her age who also likes fairies. That evening, at a restaurant, she gets the answer.

Emily helps her mom unpack the kitchen dishes from the boxes and finds a necklace. It is a strange necklace that looks like a star. She wonders if it is magical or has special powers, and Beth, the girl from next door has a book that shows what the pendant really is. They soon learn they have lots more in common than just being neighbors.

It is on one of their picnics that they see a strange ‘dancing’ light in the woods but knowing that they are not allowed in the woods without an adult, they have to wait to find out what it is.

Beth's 4-year-old brother, Toby, always seems to show up, at the wrong time. The girls find out from Beth's book about the flickering light and decide to go a short distance into the woods to see for themselves if it is true and are amazed at what they find.

Emily finds an unusual tree stump and many strange things begin to happen and secrets are revealed.
