Epic Ten - Rising Sun

Hello! This will be my second report on a Realms Beyond event.

This is Epic Ten - Rising Sun. The ultimate goal here is to Conquest all the world. But the primary goal is to survive. Actually, this is what I`m trying this time.

Well, Deity is way beyond my skills. I was compelled to try, as Sullla, the event sponsor, said it should be easier than a normal deity game. I`m only a struggling Monarch player now. Well, let`s see where it gets!

The journey begins

Let me say just one thing before I start. As I wanted to first stay alive and only when I managed it, at 2050 AD, I'd start thinking about doing something with the AI. The starting position wasn't that bad and the AIs were relatively far. I could expand. At least I thought.

In my continent I had Rome (Julius) and China (Qin). Too many purple colors around.

I managed to find a good copper and a good horses site. But I didn't have time. Qin founded the horses site before I got my second settler out. The first one, obviously, went to get copper, right next door.

Then I discovered two coastal barb cities. One to the east and one to the west. I took both of them, letting me with a grand total of four cities. I managed to found a fifth city on the tundra to grab some silver. I think I can say now it was the only silver source on the planet. I could trade with each civ, one at a time.

Suddenly, I got the message saying:
The Spanish Civilization has been destroyed

So, Isabella was on the map and had been wiped out before we mad.

And then I found (well, actually, he found me) the responsible for killing her. Capac showed his caravels from the west, reaching my shores.

The experience is hilarious now. I saw rifles dancing around while I was producing archers. I knew it was not going to end in a good way.

I tried to stay as much friendly as I could with all the AI's, but they started to change religions. Caesar was Christian (historically accurate!), Qin was Buddhist (historically accurate too!) and Capac was Hindu. Well, the Incan loved the Ra, the Sun God. Unfortunately, this religion isn't in civ for this game to be ideal. I changed to No-State-Religion after all.

The 5-city empire was easily managed and had too few maintenance after I got some good techs and Markets and Courthouses on play. The only problem is that I couldn't stay even close to the AI's. The only trade I could make was with Huayna. I traded Liberalism to him for a bunch of old techs, his map and some gold. Then I saw his island... He got a bunch of land down there.

I almost hit F6 and clicked future tech to see what would happen. I can say I was hitting enter for more than an hour when I saw the doom. My cities got attacked by Mech Infantry, gunships and Stealth Bombers. And then, at the end of the turn, I saw this:

Well, I hit enter just a couple more times to see this:

It's not a shame. To be honest, this was my first DEFEAT on civ. When things went badly, I just retired and started a new game. This time I wished to see my death. Just to learn that deity is for the big persons. And I'm not one of them

Don't know if it's normal, but a ZERO score is something you'd be ashamed of. I'm not. At least, I tried!

So, the summary:

Conquest Defeat
1752 AD
In-game Score: 0
Ranking: Dan Quayle

Nothing compared to the 7 pages of the previous report, uh? Well, this game was nothing compared to that too. I just couldn't do a thing.
I'm ready for a new try. Losers never quit!
