About 35 miles northeast of Rockport via Texas 35 north, FM 774 east, and FM 2040 south.

County seat of Aransas County. Tourist attractions include

• Fulton Mansion State Historical Structure - Restored ornate 4 story historical home and grounds.
• Goose Island State Park - Rest rooms, showers, picnic sites, open shelters, children's play area, fishing pier, fish cleaning table, boat ramp, tent and trailer camping. St. Joseph's Island
