1800's

The world became industrialized and "modern" within this century.   Such everyday items as indoor plumbing and the camera were invented during this time.   Here will be a gorgeous collection of  clothing from Regnecy to Ante Bellum to the gay 90's.

Reticule

A Reticule.   This was a purse that was commonly carried by ladies in the early half of the 19th c.   The purse is out of linen and has amazing embroidery.  The reticule is still in useable condition.

1820's corset

This is a wonderful examble of the looser lower class corsets.  There are a few small stains and holes along the center of the corset from it being stored improperly for many years.  Some of the original ties are still attached to the back eyelet.  The corset only extends to slightly below the bust to cover the ribs.   It is made of pure linen.

1840's Chemise

This is a mid-19th century chemise.  This is in perfect condition.  The chemise has three letters near the right breast "E.C.A" which is most likely the intials of the name of the orignial owner.  There is a lovely white trim at the top and it has a single hidden button.

Child's Calico Dress

This is a wonderful example of a praire dress or work dress.  This one was meant for a young child and is out of heavy calico and broadcloth in black.  Please click on the picture for more information.
