Internet Explorer crashes when visiting certain pages


  1. Restore pc to a state when functioning by using System Restore
  2. Update browser to latest version and make sure you have the latest updates by going to Microsoft
  3. Disable all start-ups in msconfig, and disable non microsoft services from starting up
  4. Scan pc for Malware,virus etc. Use Softwares such as Avira, Superantispyware, Spybot, or MalwareBytes
  5. Empty IE cache and disable add-ons
  6. Uninstall Java from control panel and reinstall it
  7. Use CCleaner and choose run cleaner
  8. Try accessing the website with Safemode + networking

Reinstalling IE 7


  1. Go to add/remove(appwiz.cpl) program and remove Internet Explorer from there
  2. If you are unable to find IE7 from the control panel, click start then run and type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe
  3. Restart machine then install the new IE

Cannot access Internet Options


  1. Make sure program like Spybot are disabled temporarily
  2. Access registry, HKCU-Software-Policies-Microsoft-Internet Explorer-Restrictions
  3. If anything is present there delete it
  4. To add restriction go to this location, HKCU-Software-Policies-Microsoft-Internet Explorer-Restrictions and make a DWORD and give it value to enable
  5. NoBrowserClose NoBrowserContextMenu NoBrowserOptions NoBrowserSaveAs NoFavorites NoFileNew NoFileOpen NoSelectDownloadDir NoViewSource

Taskbar missing when login in safemode, normal mode and last known good Config (keyboard not working)


  1. Press (ctrl+alt+del) make a new task run of explorer.exe or logout then log back in
  2. If you can access task manager click file new task run and type msconfig
  3. Try selective start-up and make sure process system.ini file, process win.ini file, load system services, load start-up items and use original boot.ini
  4. Try safe mode + command prompt if keyboard is not working try another one or Minidin 6
  5. If you can see the background press number lock to cancel out keyboard failure, if command prompt does work type "C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe" after that try the above. Then click check all boot paths, in boot.ini
  6. In command prompt type explorer.exe or “C:\windows\explorer.exe” if error is received it is probably running already, try typing tasklist or chkdsk C: /r
  7. Change boot order in BIOS to see if boots from HDD
  8. Take out laptop battery and reset CMOS
  9. If all fails make a new partition using the windows xp disk and copy current work to the new partition then format the old partition and reinstall windows xp using repair install you will not lose work or programs, but this is not available on OEM

How to determine which version of Internet Explorer is installed


  1. In Internet Explorer click on help, then about Internet Explorer this also work same in firefox

  2. In run type "cmd /k reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer" /v Version". It should say seomthing like 7.0 ot 8.0, which will indicate the version
