How to check the Softwares installed in a machine?
There are various methods used to check the Softwares installed in a particular machine. Checking the Softwares installed is
a good way of ensuring that any not needed or not required is removed.
Method 1
- Hold the Windows Key and press R, in the dialog box type "Appwiz.cpl".
- A new window will open with a list of program installed, this will show everything installed in the machine.
Method2
- Click Start, then Run and type "C:\Program Files".
- This will list all the folders that the programs have created, sometimes certain program might be uninstalled incorrectly
and the folders can be deleted from here if that is the case.
- It is also important to research any suspicious folder names here using Google or SystemLookup.
Method3
- Click Start then All Program.
- You can navigate through all the program installed here and check for any suspicious or any not needed.
- You can also organise how this is displayed by Right Clicking the entry and choosing sort by name, you can click on properties
to change the look of the program or the logo.
How to uninstall a program?
Method 1
- Click Start then All Programs, navigate to the program you want to uninstall and expand its items.
- In there you should be displayed with an uninstall.exe, click it and follow the instructions.
Method 2
- Click Start, then Run and type "C:\Program Files" and click OK.
- Find the program you want to uninstall and double click on the folder.
- In the folder there will be many files, one which will be called uninstall.exe, Double Click it.
- Follow the onscreen wizard and restart machine to confirm removal.
Method 3
- Click Start then Run and type "Appwiz.cpl".
- Wait for the list to be populated, choose the program you want to uninstall and click Remove.
- Follow the onscreen wizard and restart machine when done.
Method 4
- Special Software can be used to properly uninstall a program, or one that cannot be uninstall properly
- Such Software as Revo Uninstaller or Uninstall Manager can be used.
Where can I download Software?
Although alot of user users purchase Software the conventional way, by visiting a computer store and purchasing the Software Disc. Many use other methods involving the Internet.
You can only install a Software if you have the following:
- You are the administrator (You can check if you are the administrator by accessing the control panel, if you can then you are the administrator)
- You have enough disk space (Every Software requires a minimum disk space if there isn't enough space you cannot install the Software)
- You have the supporting Operating System, (Every Software is designed for a particular Platform to run on, if your platform does not support this it will not work
- You have the minimum System Specification, (This refers to the amount of RAM installed, the CPU speed, Hard Disk space, Graphics Card and Input/Output, all of which can be found in the Computer manual.)
