As one of the fifteen original Dalmatian pups, Lucky was a stillborn but was revived thanks to Roger. As he grew he started to gain an interesting spot pattern on his back in the shape of a horseshoe. Sometime later the fifteen pups were dognapped by Cruella De Vil's henchmen Jasper and Horace. Eventually, the pups escaped with help from Seargent Tibbs and the Colonel and reunited with their parents along with eighty-four more Dalmatian puppies, bringing the total to 101!

Lucky was first RPed by a long time poster on FK (Lori), but her life has since grown very busy. Naturally, Naomi decided to take over, and she usually uses the series' Lucky in contrast to the original's.

Apparently, this is Lucky.

In-Depth Analysis

Lucky, by all means, is very lucky as his name implies (well, he actually makes his own luck). In the movies Lucky loved to watch TV, especially whenever Thunderbolt was on. He and Patch are big fans of Thunderbolt, although in 101 Dalmatians 2 Lucky loses his personality, as well as his ear colors (much to the dismay of Joseph and other resisters of sequels). In 101 Dalmatians the series Lucky's appearence remained unchanged except for the fact he no longer has spots on the back of his head or on his legs. His horseshoe pattern is much thicker colored but he retains much of the features the movie version had in 1961. In the 1996 live action movie Lucky's appearence changes exponentially: his horseshoe is now on his face instead of his back, and he wears a blue collar as opposed to his animated self having a red one.

Also in the series Lucky has adventures on the farm with his siblings Rolly, Cadpig, and their friend Spot whom happens to be a chicken who thinks she's a dog, a concept later used with Waddlesworth the parrot from 102 Dalmatians. The series also implies on a bit of a relationship between Lucky and Two-Tone... which several role-players have jokingly referred to as an act of incest. (Naomi)

Behind the Posts

"It's really fun to play Lucky," says Naomi, "especially since I can also bring in several of the pups I also RP as, namely Cadpig, Rolly, and Two-Tone, oh and Jewel, too.

"Lucky was always my favorite of the Dal pups, and he's cute and I have a beanie of him IRL *holds up beanie* see? Anyhow Lucky was the main reason I got into 101 Dalmatians, especially the series."

Trivia

  • Lucky is one of the only pups to appear in every incarnation of the 101 Dalmatians franchise (except for 102 Dalmatians). Lucky has appeared in Dodie Smith's original novel and sequel The Starlight Barking; he also appears in the 1961 original movie, 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure (as a minor character), and the series (as a main character).

Role-Players' Commentary

"Lucky is by far a cute puppy, if I ever met him I'd pick him up and cuddle him some and maybe take him home but I would rather him stay with his large family (that and I'd get an evil eye from Pongo and Perdita). Lucky is one of those pups who just loves to have fun and be a hero or emulate his idol Thunderbolt, I would love to have a dog like him someday." (Naomi, March 2008)
