I liked seeing her play off Jim Calvert, who platedy T.J. White. His character was dropped after the first season, which was a bit of a shame. I haven't watched the episodes closely enough to see if his character really meshed well with the series, but I suspect that they could have made him fit in pretty well. I certainly liked the idea of having a third character to add to the Clark-Lana dynamic. (Perhaps a TV version of Pete Ross would have done the trick?) |

The Superboy series was underrated, to say the least. It inevitably invites comparisons with Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which was also well-written (at least, in its first season). However, I think the major problem with that series - apart from some uncreative writing in later seasons - was that it gave Lois equal billing with Superman. Mind you, I like having a strong supporting cast, but I think this detracted somewhat from the main character. |

In contrast, Lana Lang was intelligent, spunky, courageous and fun, yet she didn't take away from the character of Superboy. Far from it; she made the Boy of Steel all the more entertaining to watch. The effects in the Superboy were simpler and cheesier, but so what? I can overlook such things, and I don't watch a show for the quality of its visuals anyway. (On the other hand, when the special effects aren't so special - that is, when they're really bad - that's another matter.) |

I especially liked the episode where Lana and Clark encountered Mxyzptlk. Michael J. Pollard was a truly inspired choice for this role. I liked his interactions with Lana; however, I couldn't find any good images of the two together. More's the pity. . |
