          About Faith Magazine

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

Lauren Sheridan, Elizabeth Schalchlin, and Megan Sheridan – three homeschooled girls and long time friends – had a vision to start a Christ-centered magazine that would challenge and encourage other Christians.

While Elizabeth was on the mission field with her family, Lauren and Meg began contemplating the possibility of publishing a magazine, but soon decided that the Lord was not opening the doors to do so at that time.  Over a year later, Elizabeth returned from the mission field with an idea that would “blow our hats away.”

In October of ‘99 Elizabeth wrote Lauren and Meg to ask if they would be interested in doing a Christian newsletter with her.  At the same time Lauren and Meg were again praying about starting one.  After months of prayer, coming up with ideas, writing, editing, and endless phone calls the first issue of Faith was published, by the grace of God, in May of 2000.

The second oldest of seven, seventeen-year-old Elizabeth Schalchlin enjoys playing the piano, singing in the choir at church, writing letters to her friends, and studying our nations heritage and legacy.  She is involved in TeenPact.

The Schalchlin family consists of her parents -- Dad (Andy) who pastors Eastside Baptist Church and is also a doctor.  Mom (Connie) is a full time mom and teaches her children at home.  Andrew (21), Joseph  (13), Samuel (9), Hannah (7), Luke (5), and Isaiah (1).

The children enjoy going for walks and riding their bicycles.  The Schalchlins live in the flat farmland of central Arkansas on about eighty acres.  Nearby woods are often explored by the adventurous children.  Elizabeth says of country living, “I enjoy the peace of living in the country.  It is the place were I see God’s beautiful creation wherever I look.  This is home.”
