The Kitáb-i-Aqdas. Approximately one-third of the text translated by Shoghi Effendi, the balance translated by Committees under the direction of the Universal House of Justice becoming the first authorized English edition of the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, the Mother Book of His Revelation, His “Most Holy Book”. Of all the volumes comprising the sacred Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, the Kitáb-iAqdas is of unique importance as it is the Charter of the future world civilization that Bahá’u’lláh has come to raise up. In it he sets forth the laws of God for the Bahá’í Dispensation and ordains the necessary institutions through which the integrity and unity of His Faith can be safeguarded. He outlines the duties of the individual and affirms the divine origin of the great religions of the past. The laws governing prayer, fasting, marriage, inheritance, and burial are set forth, as well as other laws regulating a wide range of personal concerns and social interaction. [89 pp]. Preface. Introduction. Some supplementary Texts, Questions and Answers, A Synopsis and Codification of the Laws and Ordinances of the Kitáb-i-Aqdas. Notes. Glossary. Key to Passages from the Aqdas translated by Shoghi Effendi. Index. 393 pp US 1993.
