Update September 2006

December 2006

Christmas is approaching and our leased stallion Burrowa Trafaelwr has been sold to the North Island to start stud duties on another welsh cob stud.  It was a sad day when he left but he has gone to a wonderful home.  Thanks to Raewyn Robertson for giving us the opportunity to lease such a wonderful animal.

It is now time to reassess where the stud is heading since we don't have a resident stallion.  Only having 10 acres makes it difficult to justify keeping a stallion so at the moment we aren't sure what next season will bring.

All the best to everybody for the festive season.

November 2006

We now have two healthy foals.  Our TB mare, Gaellium, produced a bay colt, Fairburn Luka, on the 30th September.  We are very pleased with him as well as our filly foal, Briallen.  The two foals are enjoying playing together, and enjoying what horses do best - eating and sleeping!

Briallen and Luka

September 2006

It is nearing the end of September and we have one exquisite Section D foal on the ground out of Sunnybrae Megan.  With all our fingers and toes crossed we managed to get a filly, Fairburn Briallen, which will be retained by the stud for riding and future breeding.  Briallen (which means Primrose in Welsh) has a very inquisitive nature and is intrigued by people sitting in her paddock - so much so that she can't help but come up and sniff them out.

We are still waiting for our Thoroughbred broodmare to foal - she is currently overdue by two weeks and creating a lot of sleepless nights.  We've got everything crossed for another filly but suppose we can't be greedy!

With the drought predicted again for this spring we have decided to downsize and have for sale Arcodas Little Gypsy.  We are very disappointed about having to sell her, in foal, but would rather know we have enough grass for the others to thrive.  Once Fortification La Vie En Rose is of age to breed from, that will give us three broodmares, which will probably be our limit. Hopefully we will be able to update this site with another healthy foal in the next few days.
