Wicca and Witchcraft

Wicca and Witchcraft are loving, Earth-based "religions", centered around positive energy.

Wicca is the modern form of the traditional Witchcraft. Most Wiccans will worship the Lord and Lady (God and Goddess), some associate them with other traditional deities names dependant on their upbringing or deities which they feel a connection with. Wicca has many different "forms" and is more a "religion", whereas Witchcraft is healing and magick based. Witchcraft is not anything to do with worshipping Satan. Satan was invented by Christianity, Witchcraft is older than that.

Wiccan's, along with their given names, can have up to three other names; a craft name, a working name and a coven name. Craft names can be public and are chosen by the Wiccan themself, but a working name is chosen by the Goddess and should be kept secret as the name is what defines you. A coven name will only be bestowed upon a Wiccan if he/she becomes member of a coven, and will probably be chosen by the High Priest/Priestess.

Wiccans usually keep a Book of Shadows. This is where a Wiccan will write down all their prayers, rituals and spells. Included in the Book of Shadows should be a copy of the Wiccan Rede voicing the laws a Witch must keep to.
