Step 1: E-mail
If you are thinking about joining a GPT site, the first thing you will want to do is set up a new e-mail address; better yet set up multiple e-mail addresses. We will call these your "spam" addresses.
The reason for this is in case you complete offers by the same company, you want to change up which spam address you use. If you try doing multiples from the same company too fast, without giving them time to credit, they will not credit.
Step 1: Voice Mail
Once you have set up spam addresses, you have the option of setting up voice mail accounts. If you don't, your home phone will be ringing off the hook!
There are a few sites where you can set up voice mails:
Some of these have hidden fees, so enter with warning.
K-7 is entirely free. They give you a Seattle based phone number, and the messages get sent to your e-mail. This is the service I recommend.
Brring is also free. What happens with them is you give Brring your home phone number, but you give companies for the offers a "hidden" phone number that Brring provides you. This means your phone will still ring off the hook. You supposedly get paid for these calls being made to your phone, but I am still 9 months in waiting for two checks from them, so I advise not to use this voice mail service.

Completing Offers
*NOTE: To those already involved with GPT sites, use Roboform with caution. A lot of affiliates are starting to not accept submitted offers that were filled out using Roboform. Also, the g-mail trick is no longer accepted either.*
For beginners, I suggest only doing the 100% free or "freebies" offers. There are a few trial ones where you pay a small fee, and get paid back more than that; but for now stick with the free ones.
Usually the first thing you do is fill out your personal information. Once you're on the next page, there may be Yes and No offers. On your keyboard press Alt and +. This will automatically select No for all of them. Sometimes, they may say you need to say Yes to at least one. When this happens, say Yes to any one of them, because on the next page you can Skip this offer. A lot of time the Skip button is at the bottom of the page.
When you've completed an offer, and submitted it from the GPT site, clear your cookies. You will need to sign back in after that. Most offers send a confirmation e-mail that you must confirm before receiving credit. These e-mails usually arrive in your spam folder within a half hour.
Referrals
There are quite a few ways to help you get referrals. Getting referrals can be difficult, but is a vital part to doing GPT if you want to make it a steady income. The biggest problem with referrals is that it isn't hard to get them, as it is to have them stay active.
The most obvious ways to get referrals is to tell your friends and family about the sites. You can also make fliers or business cards to hand out in your town. (Business cards have worked out well for me)
Another way to get referrals is to create a blog like this one.
Most of my referrals are from Cafemom. Of course that doesn't help if you're not a mother. But if you are you should consider making an account there. It's like Myspace for mothers. Then you would just post journal entries in the market place.
Another effective way to get referrals, is to purchase PTS (paid to sign-up) ads on other GPT and PTC sites.
