The President of this Humane Society, Andi Elliott, is under attack by Sheriff Olsen & his friends in her county merely for doing her job. Andi is a true champion for the cause of animal welfare and has been met with nothing but opposition by  these folks who are supposed to assist her in investigating and prosecuting animal cruelty & neglect cases.

Recently, Andi received a call from a local TV reporter who had received a call about some starving and neglected horses in Menan, Jefferson County, Id. Andi went to file a complaint with the Country Sheriffs Office regarding this case and the Sheriff REFUSED to let her file. As it turns out, it was discovered that the offender was a friend of the sheriffs. But Andi, true warrior for the cause that she is, was not detered.

Next day she drove to the area in question to take some pictures and came upon a house located near the property that would provide a good vantage point to take pictures from. She pulled into the lane to see if anyone was home in hopes of finding someone that might give her permission to stand on the land and take some pics, but it looked as if no one was home. Andi did not even bother getting out of the car, but took some pics of the skinny horses in the field across the way.  

A few days later, Sheriff Olsens Deputy appeared at her door with a warrant for tresspassing! Turns out, someone was home at the house peeking out of the windows and who just happened to be (another) friend of the sheriffs as well as a friend of the owner of the neglected horses.  

It appears as if some "Good Old Boys Club" type stuff is going on down there in Jefferson County, Id. as now they are out to deliberately persecute Andi by prosecuting her with a trumped up charge they know she is not guilty of. They are hoping to discourage her "troublesome" animal welfare advocacy in that county and to hopefully run her out of town.

They have tried to offer her a plea bargan, with a fine and suspended jail time, but Andi is adamant that she will not plea guilty to anything she does not feel guilty of...KUDOS to her for that. Andi is THE ONLY voice for the animals in her area and defeat in this case would mean Jefferson Country would not only loose a great champion for the animals but would lose their ONLY champion for animals. 

Andi has done MUCH good for the animals and people of her area and has actually been recognized, authorized AND utilized by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department IN OTHER CASES! Apparently, they use her only when it is convienent for them to do so. Nevertheless, they are going ahead with the prosecution as if she was your average schmoe / criminal type street thug, accusing her of TRESSPASSING upon private lands FOR NO GOOD CAUSE  instead of HONORING her for doing a good job and investigating what the authorities empowered to do so would not, -  a SERIOUS case of multiple equines being starved & neglected .

Also,  it appears that the County Tresspassing Statutes are on Andis' side as the local law requires that property be clearly marked with a sign of a certain demension saying POSTED NO TRESSPASSING and Andi says there was no such sign,....the statutes also state that in order for it to be tresspassing the offender would have had to enter the property with THE INTENT to tresspass, so there again, Andi feels that the law is on her side. There was NO intent to tresspass, the intent was to investigate a reported case of animal cruelty & neglect.

Andi has decided to fight this case to the fullest, DEMANDING her right to a jury trial. We are SO PROUD of her! She and we both feel this could be an important precident setting case for her AND the county if she could only win. 

 On the other hand, if she were to lose this case, she would, in effect, be totally discredited in her jurisdiction and  powerless to help abused, neglected and suffering animals in her area anymore. That NO DOUBT would be a REAL tragedy since Andi is the only voice they have right now, and a POWERFUL one at that! 

Please shop in our store and buy our stuff so we can put all the money into Andis' Legal Defense Fund so we can help her beat this important precident setting case! Do it for Andi and the animals in her jurisdiction. Loosing this case would be a terrible tragedy for both Andi & the animals in her area, as well as for all of us animal welfare advocates. True champions like her are a rarity, particularly in her neck of the woods. We need her there to stay put and make some more progress for the animal welfare movement in Idaho.
