EYE UNITED SQUAD 2007/2008

Player Name: James Last

Position: Goalkeeper

At five foot 11 and 17 stone, James is an imposing figure. Along with the back four set a club record of 10 consecutive league clean sheets 2003/2004. Big and brave, comes for everything and a good shot stopper, as good as anyone in the league. Handling on corners and crosses is generally excellent. Slightly erratic temperant. Will be hoping to prove he is not past his best.

Player Name: Scott Adams

Position: Right Back

2002/2003 season players player and managers player of the year. Scott will never be the best natural footballer in the side, but has immense fitness, courage, pace, strength in equal measures. Nearly impossible to get past. Very well respected and liked within the side. Nearly indestructible in the tackle. Softly spoken but very hard. Are Injuries starting to tell their toll on Scott? Amazingly scored five in 1 game in his first game in midfield.

Name: Rob Nichols

Position: Left Back

Tremendously gifted young left back, having just turned 17. Good left foot, listens well to others and has a great attitude. Doesnt mind telling more experienced players from opposing sides exactly that he is the boss. Puts in a good ball. Very consistent but just needs to work on his positioning a little bit more to really become the total package. Away for a while, lets hope he is back in the not too distant future.

Name: Emerson Fairweather

Position: Centre back

One of the burston trio who signed in 2002, great ball winner and very good in the air. Emersons distribution has also improved. An old fashioned centre half, happier defending than going forward. Very good positional sense, knows he will have to work hard to stay in the team, this season. Can play anywhere across the back four and always gives 100%.

Name: Lewis Beamish

Position: Defence or Midfield.

Back playing for Eye this season after work committments last season. Big tall lad who has now filled out, can play anywhere across the back four or in midfield. . Good aerial ability, good passer and a massive throw in. Our direct replacement for Chay Budd. A brilliant player but possibly injury prone.

Name: James Havers

Position: Centre back.

Another new signing this season. Very tall and a very commanding presence. A very gifted footballer, happy in the air or on the deck and equally adept at coming out of defence with the ball. Probably the first centre back at Eye for a number of years to be so confident with the ball and passing. Could be a tremendous signing, just needs to possibly use the simpler option a bit more when distributing. Decided against playing every week but will help us out when short.

Name: Bradley Hare

Position: Anywhere across the back line

Another player who has returned to Eye after a 2 year abscence playing elsewhere. Very solid, good in the air and another player who is happy bringing the ball out of defence. Bradley can play at left back, centre back or right back and is equally at home in either position. Very brave in the tackle and backs out of nothing, it is great to see Bradley back in an Eye United shirt. Lets hope he turns up every week.

Name: Phil Flame

Position: Full back

A good standard full back who plays on either side. Phil is happy to come into the side when we need him. Has never let us down and is a dogged and consistent player. Had a horrific knee injury whilst playing on saturdays which will keep him out for at least a season.

Name: Steven Garland

Position: Right Midfield/ Centre Midfield./ Centre Half

Very fast, very fit player with good temperament. game last season. 2004/2005 Players player of the season. Very underated, with quick feet, good engine, totally unrecognisable to the weak timid player who was playing 3-4 years ago. Now back playing full time for Eye after a spell elsewhere. Unbelievable fitness levels. Can also play excellently at right or centre back. Probably centre back is now his best position after a string of brilliant performances.

Name: Barry "Baz" Garland

Position: Central Midfield

Very big and powerful, the "enforcer" of the Eye midfield. Never shirks a tackle. Worked very hard on his pre-season fitness and has started so well, it could be hard to leave him out. Occasionally wayward distribution but wins the majority of tackles, plays the holding midfield role to perfection. A bit injury prone but when he plays Eye invariably win.

Name: Darren "Del" Gooderham

Position: Utility player

Del is the most underrated player in the squad. A good footballer who plays the ball on the deck, Del can slot in anywhere including in goal, full back, centre back or anywhere in the midfield. Very unlucky to be on the bench sometimes.  Probably the most liked person in the whole team, nobody has anything bad to say about Del. Was a complete beer monster who played better after a skinful but has now found love. Cruelly nicknamed "Alpay" due to a local barmaid stating he looked Turkish. Normally misses the first few weeks of the season due to harvesting.  Is now playing for Worlingworth after many seasons at Eye. Wish you the best Del.

Name: Bob " Roy " Kilkenny

Position: Centre Midfield.

Bob is one of the few Bradford supporters in this part of the country. After befriending captain Arun Lucraft in the pub last year, he was soon convinced to turn out for the mighty Eye. After getting used to our style of play towards the end of last season, he really has developed into a top class midfielder. Quick, with an amazing engine on him, Bob can go from box to box all day. Is also starting to score a few goals as well. Doesnt really seem to have any weaknesses apart from a shyness. If he continues to develop like he has , then he could become one of the best midfielders in the league. Allegedly cried when his favourite act left the X factor but this is only a rumour.

Name: Karl "Dado" Dade

Position: Centre Midfield

Karl is another young gifted player. Another tall player, can really make tremendous passes all around the pitch. Good in the air as well as a very combatitive player. Along with Lewis Beamish, he is another Eye player to possess an enormous throw. Doesnt have too many weaknesses, it is unfortunate for Eye that he has gone on holiday at the start of the season. Could be another cog in the team if he has got the committment.

Name: John "Bubby" Dade

Position: Left midfield / centre forward

The prodical son comes home after a 2 year abscence playing elsewhere and away due to suspensions and injuries. Has a tremendously powerful left foot and can go past players with ease. A mutli-talented player who when on fire, can change a game single handedly. The only question being is have injuries taken their toll? Not fully match fit as yet, Eye will hope that Bubby can return to the form of old.

Name: Tom Folkard

Positon: Left or Right midfield

A young player who started playing for Eye last season after not playing since school 6 years perviously. Has the amazing natural ability of going past opposing players like they arent even there. Scored 2 goals in his first 2 games last year and has struggled to find the next since. Can frustrate people by going past 3 players then trying to go past them again. An amazing site at away games as he manages to get there in his trusty Vw polo, cruelly nicknamed "Shitbox".

Name: Leon Sparkes

Position: Right midfield/ wing or centre forward

Leon is yet another young player, not even 20. Very talented, he can take very well placed corners and free kicks.  Frustrated the hell out of us last year by always trying to shoot in the top corner when in goal scoring opportunites and invariably missed. Scored 2 in our first game of the season this year both with strikers finishes. Has also hardened up this year, which he needed to do. After an inconsistent season at times last year, Leon is rapidly improving and could be as good as he wants to be.

Name: Arun Lucraft

Position: Centre Forward ( captain )

Arun is Lee's little brother and super talented. . Another solo game winner can excite and frustrate in equal measures. Arun can score tremendous solo goals and is prepared to battle in the trenches. Seems allergic to training but is super fit considering he smokes 40 a day. Still in his early 20's Arun is a great player who should only get better. One of the first names on the team sheet. Has the honour of being Eye captain this season. Player of the year last season, a brilliant player with no weaknesses in his game.

Name: Jamie Carle

Position: Centre Forward

Bog as he is known signed on for us while drunk in Eye queens head at our AGM and then forgot about it. Has played for Eye for the last two seasons. To be fair, a poor player when he first started, Bog has improved at an alarming rate. Will still never be the most gifted footballer in our squad but one who never lets us down. Surprisingly good in the air, and has a very good goals to games ratio especially from the bench. Does need to stop falling over a bit.

Name: Lee Lucraft

Position: Centre Forward

Lee has been a better forward than most people could hope to be. After illness Lee has put on weight and is not as fit as he once was but is still a dangerous striker. Five years ago at least a goal a game player, we really hope that Lee attempts to regain his fitness/ sharpness as at 35 he has loads to offer the club. Now returning this season after a lengthy ban, Lee has looked very sharp and has scored several goals. Would've scored more but has struck the woodwork on numerous occassions. Gifted ball control and hold up play.

Name: David Havers

Position: Right back/ left midfield/ wing.

Dave is currently at uni in loughborough and doesnt come back very often. However when he plays he gives 100%. Not physically strong but goes past people very easily, came in against Occold and after a steady start really came in to his own in the second half.

Name: David " Dids" Forster

Position: Right back/midfield. Goalkeeper.

Dids is another player who comes in when we are short. This is not because he doesnt have the ability but doesnt want to play every week. A player who started playing in goal on saturdays last year and is highly rated, having improved very quickly and provides excellent cover for Last. Also a good right back, with pace and fitness. Scored with an excellent header against Occold in  a great individual performance.

Name: Josh Lucraft

Position: Mascot and superstar in waiting.

Josh is Lee's sons and is a very good little player. Naturally left footed and scores for fun in school games. Comes every week to watch Eye with his dad and will be a tremendous future player. He is fantastic with a football and i think we have the next Theri Henry in the making!!! It wont be long Josh untill you will be helping Eye out on sundays too.
