So You Want to Be ATeacher?

I could become a driver, of a london transport bus.

But do they get their holidays, at home as long as us?

I could become a lawyer, if I studied hard at law.

But would I then arrive at home, each day 'tween three and four?

I could become an actor. But then I'd miss my stay,

Each year upon the Isle of Wight, a free week's holiday.

I could drive a red engine, and work with firemen.

But could I ever live without, my marking red ink pen?

I could, of course become a priest, and be a Sunday preacher.

I think it's only in the church, they've more perks than a teacher.......

What on earth is happening? Can someone tell me please?

What is it education's caught, a virus or disease?

Its filtering into our schools. Its now attacking me.

My heart is being weakened by, this dread bureaucracy.

I cannot understand it, why others cannot see,

What is blatant, obvious, to those like you and me.

We're given piles of paperwork, and records to complete,

Agenda for the meetings that rush us of our feet.

The rules for health and safety, to which we must adhere,

Are driving fun right out of school, and make our days quite drear.
