In this web site are the details of my current build project, where I will be showcasing the rebuild of a Fiat Ducato 2.5 TD 6 door minibus/van, your common and garden variety van of which millions are seen on our roads everyday serving the communities we live and work in, delivering a wide variety of goods and services throughout the country, [point to note there are other similar buses are the exact same van only badged differently].
As you meander through the following pages, you will go on the same journey that we are, step by step during the transformation that is about to unfold before your eyes, we have big plans for this one, with a couple of points to bear in mind as we do so.
This van has to perform a couple of important tasks for me, as such it has to be able to be used as 3 things in the one, to avoid having to have 3 separate vehicles to perform the tasks that we require on a day to day basis, and obviously that will also cut down the once £5000 yearly bill I had to insure, tax and run 3 separate vehicles, which seeing as how I am no millionaire sounds a very attractive proposal to me.
Firstly and probably the most important use for the van, will be as a van, to enable me to cart things about on a day to day basis as a van was intended to be used for after all, secondly it has to be able to transform itself effortlessly and quickly into a 2 berth campervan for weekend holidays away for both myself, my partner and our 2 dogs, which will have to contain removable units to house all the creature comforts of home that you would expect to find in a motor home of some class, and lastly it will need to look and perform well in all guises to keep up my street creed.
So do read on I am positive that this will become a challenging build, that should take our build knowledge to extremes and back again, none of the team I have including myself have ever tackled anything even close to this, all have differing degrees of mechanical knowledge and that's about it, some of us can do basic d.i.y, when forced to by our other half’s and that's where our skill levels stop, this should be fun, I’m absolutely positive there shall be a lot of laughs and tears along the way, but hopefully we shall come out the other side with a van to be proud of, that I personally have built and designed from scratch to suit my lifestyle, what could be better.
This web site is privately owned and operated be me myself contact details in full may be found HERE .It was started today the 27th of April 2007 and is an ongoing project which shall be regularly be updated as the build progresses so please look back in frequently to see how we are getting on with project Ducato Build
