saving feathered angels, one day at a time

sharing some circumstances from where our birds came from

 greetings all,

we have wanted to add this to our site, and i am going to attempt to share with all how some of these guys arrived here...

In 2000 we were already enjoying our own parrots, a beautiful white faced mutation male cockatiel, Paulie, and a beautiful congo aftican grey, Booger. We had not even given a second thought to adding any more birds to our family, until, November 21st 2000 when a phone call came in from knoxville asking me to think about helping a orange wing amazon in dire need. So, after careful thought and consideration, we all decided to give her a forever home. So, after Maxie, we added George, also an amazon, a blue front from clarksville, Tennessee.... and that is our humble beginning.

Soon after those birds got here, we kept on getting calls to keep helping others in need... So, after having our eyes opened as it was, to the need of those birds without good homes, we chose to start up as a RESCUE not a sanctuary.

it soon because very obvious that giving up an already abused/neglected parrot was not going to be easy, in fact, it was the hardest thing i have ever tried to do in my life, aside from giving up my own son... so, we chose to stop that policy of adoption, and make it a sanctuary.. we have not looked back.

we have been innundated with lots of different breeds, and therefore, we have had lots of expereince, invaluable experience with all different breeds of exotic parrots.

We see more cockatoo abuse than all the other breeds pretty much put together. Its so sad.  I love the cockatoo breed and i know that they are very clingy, but that is just what comes with that breed... if you do not want a perpetual 2 or 3 year old child, one that never grows up, then you do not need to get a cockatoo... There are plenty of other birds that do well without that daily hands on that a cockatoo demands...

So, anyway, as time permits,  i will put some of our birds stories on here.. I want to share this with everyone, so that you can see just what we are doing here, and how hard we work to keep these birds happy and healthy. Its truly a labor of love...If you do not think its difficult to care for these neglected and unwanted birds, walk a mile in our shoes, and then, its gonna be obvious how much work love and time that we put into this every single day.

So, come back soon, i will do my best to update more often.

Blessings one and all,

Staff
