Exeter Aces win the Under 13 Club Championship

The Exeter Aces recorded a weekend to remember when they were crowned British Under 13 club champions 2008 a couple of weeks a go. The young Aces weren’t predicted as favourites for the event but that didn’t stop them from showing the crowd how good these South West youngsters actually were. The first round of races saw Exeter stars Aaron Coles and Joe Avery hit maximum points, when they each successfully came out on top of their heats giving the Devon team every hope of winning the title, currently standing in joint top position with Sandwell. Heat 6 was another heat for Exeter, as Coles, once again crossed the finish line first to put his team into the driving seat. Two well earned second places from Corey Heyde and Charlie Jane Herbert secured the Aces’ top spot as Wednesfield now came into play ensuring that they were now joint top with Exeter instead. As the semi final progressed, just a single point between the top three teams ensured that this match would go right down to the wire with only room for two in the grand final. As the last set of heats drew to a close it was important for the front runners to gain the maximum four points available from each race. Heyde and the flying Coles both managed to do this, to secure their team’s place in the main event.

The Grand final of the British Under 13 Club Championship opened with yet again, some more exciting and competitive racing resulting in Exeter and the favourites Stockport level at the top on twelve points a piece. However, it was down to the remarkable rides from Joe Avery, Corey Heyde and Aaron Coles which took Exeter into the lead with three points to spare, over Stockport. Charlie Jane Herbert managed to score two points from her heats whilst Lauren Hookway took her first reserve ride of the final, bringing home a point for Exeter to add to their progressive score. In heats eleven and twelve, the two top guns yet again scored more heat wins which extended the Devon side’s lead to four points. The best part of the day for the young Aces was yet to come though. Following on from the two heat wins, Exeter pushed on even harder, showing that they were by no means happy and satisfied with the lead they already had. Avery, Heyde and Coles all won their final heats and Exeter reserve Lauren Hookway rode the ride of her life, when she also won her final heat in style ahead of some of the days top riders. The Exeter Aces had pulled off something of which hadn’t been achieved before. The fantastic effort from all five riders in the team helped them to win the under 13 club championship by the most points it has ever been won and to add to the list of achievements, Aces captain Aaron Coles broke the track record for this match, four times. An absolutely astonishing day for the Aces and the parents of the club, a weekend which will go down in the record books for everyone at the Exeter club.

Welldone Brian!

Keep trying!

All he had running through his head at the time was simply, "keep Trying". This is one you HAVE to watch!
