Whispers
You look around and no one is there;
You're all alone, nobody cares.
You hear a whisper, almost a sigh;
"Don’t give up, I'm almost there"
The waiting is torture, killing your soul.
All you want is someone to fill the void.
The quiet is heavy filled with unknowns;
You wait quietly for what lies ahead.
Again the whisper in your ear,
"Just a little longer."
When you think you've had it
You feel the air start to clear.
Someone passes by, a shadow in the dark…
Are you my whisper?
"Hunger Pains"
Driving down the highway and suddenly it hits,
We've got to stop somewhere; I've got that feeling in my pit.
Golden arches, bells that haven't rung for years,
Nothing will do and the pains in me are bringing tears.
I need something fast, need something quick
This hunger thing I just gotta lick.
It's getting to be too much; I'm going to give in
But eating just anywhere would surely be a sin.
Crossed palm trees in the distance catch my eye
I realize now these pains won't make me die.
The answer to my prayers is just an exit away
Dear Lord, I'm so glad I found one today!
I walk inside and am greeted by "Hi, how are you doing?"
"Just swell thanks" I reply, fighting the urge that's ensuing.
A burger and fries is my request,
I know the associates will do their best.
Double meat, double cheese...I think I'm in heaven.
This from a joint that opens 30 minutes before eleven.
The smiles and atmosphere seem to make my day
I can't believe this sunny day started out so gray.
The red and white decor can brighten any bad mood
Especially since they serve only the very best food.
I realize the best way to finish a hamburger of steak,
Is with a nice thick refreshing chocolate shake.
As I get back in the car to finish my travels
All the questions I had just seemed to unravel...
I now know why this joint is the very best
And I smile to myself and puff out my chest.
It's not about burgers, or their fresh french fries
It's about something the workers all have deep inside.
Coupled with this is the undeniable fact
That these people do not have to put on an act!
I know my answers are all very true,
These workers are friendly through and through
They enjoy serving me day or night,
Besides, the customer is always right!
In-N-Out, In-N-Out....
That's what a hamburgers, all about!
Rain
Wash it away
Forever
Pain, misunderstanding
Take it all from me
These feelings aren't what I want
Something new
Foreign
Take this from me
Feinting, cheating
It's not worth it
Wash it away
I don't want it anymore
Rain, pounding on my car
Wash it away
Take it to someone else
Someone who cares
I have no emotions
My feelings are numb
I can't feel
Wash it away….
