Are you...

Not sure where to turn to for reliable information and support?

Scared of giving birth?

Not sure if you can handle the pain?

Anxious about pregnancy and birth?

One of the most important decisions you can make is choosing the right healthcare provider to meet the needs of you and your family. Ask yourself, What should you be looking for? What matters most to you? Do you want midwifery care at home? Does the doctor deliver babies at the hospital that you wish to use? What are their intervention rates and how satisfied are their clients with the care they receive? Does the hospital fit the healthcare needs and preferences for you and your family? These are all important pieces to the puzzle.

Jenni Shaver wants to assist you in exploring these questions about your healthcare needs. Why? Because the more I can assist you in understanding  your values and concerns, the better your needs can be anticipated and fulfilled as you procede towards birthing with intention and entering parenthood satisfied and prepared for what lies ahead.

Jenni Shaver will assist you in creating a  complimentary program designed to meet your special needs during your pregnancy and the early weeks of parenting. As an experienced mother and birthing professional, she has   confidence and knowledge about pregnancy - before, during, and after, as well as numerous resources for parents for the time of pregnancy & childbirth, baby care and breastfeeding.

Top reasons why families ask me to work with them:

*You're birthing your baby at home and need midwifery care.

*You're having your first baby and want a professional to guide you through the experience.

*You want to have a natural birth in the hospital and avoid unnecessary interventions.  But you're unsure what is necessary and what is not.

*You have chosen obstetric care but you want continuity of care throughout pregnancy, labor and with your new baby, plus the opportunity to labor at home with a private birth attendant for added security.

*You had an unpleasant experience last time, and this time is going to be different!

*You are having a complicated pregnancy, VBAC, twins, a breech baby or have gone "overdue" and need a professional advocate to help you achieve the birth that is important to you.

*You feel anxious or scared about your birth

*You want independant childbirth education.

*You have had a miscarrige or infant loss in a previous pregnancy and need additional support.

*You are considering having a termination but would like information and support in carrying your baby to term.

*You believe that you and your partner will benefit from additional support for any reason.

*You're not sure where to have your baby, or with whom.

*You want to have a great birth!

What is the potential cost of not acting now?

You may have more interventions in your pregnancy and birth than are necessary.  All interventions carry a risk of harm to you or your baby. Choosing a provider who practices evidence based care is vital to your health and the well being of your baby.

Not choosing a provider who practices mother friendly care increases your risk of the following...

You may experience an increased risk of postnatal depression.

You may not bond well with your baby.

You will be less likely to breastfeed successfully.

You will be less likely to have a natural birth.

Your future pregnancies and births may be higher risk.

You may find your experience to be traumatic.
