Welcome to the European Jumping Guide on-line. This is an extension of the cult racing guide book, "A Brief Guide to European Jump Racing" which was published by The Complete Record in 2005.
These pages are designed to be basic country by country guide to what is on offer for the jumping devotee who strays from the UK & Ireland. It is fair to say that apart from the UK, France and Ireland jump racing is a little thin on the ground at the moment and only in the Czech Republic could the sport be said to be flourishing (and even they have financial difficulties). For the most part jumping is confined to one or two races on mixed cards.
However having said that we still have the one day "Waregem Koerse" meeting in Belgium , Swedish Grand National day at Stromsholm looks a lot of fun and Merano in the Italian alps is the home of International jumping.
I am at heart a lazy man and for me European jumping did not exist before 1983. For this web-site I have concentrated on the last ten years and all statistics quoted are from 1997 onwards.
I am in the process of up-dating this site to include the 2007 season and then I will only return to the site to update each year as it passes. Whilst it was enormous fun to prepare I simply do not have the time to update the Calender section on a year by year basis but I will keep the page as a record of what was offer during 2007. For updated information regarding any future travel plans I suggest you visit the websites quoted on each individual countries page.
European jump racing is a wonderful diversion from the mundane fare on offer in the UK during the summer months. Lets face it - apart from the the King George at Ascot there is not much of interest in the UK from the end of April until the Open meeting in November.
