Catch & Kill #1 Ballarat 2009

Ballarat was cold and windy but well worth the frosty mornings and sore fingers, the thermals where a must have to keep out the cold. Rain was a pain for Marko's group one leg of the road home, for the rest of us we managed to miss the shitty weather apart from the drizzle we got going to Jacks farm nth east of Ballarat. Having different departure times most of us met up in Goondiwindi on the 30th. We headed out with smiles for miles on our run to Eureka. Having taken on the flag for our social club was only right to visit Ballarat and let them know smile. Road Gremlins would take one of the trikes of the road for the rest of the trip, Chuckles and Marion did come along in a renta car. We made it to Dubbo and setled in at a caravan park next door to the zoo....l Next day had me getting my gear ready for a run ahead of the group to catch up with a cousin. They headed for  Narrandera, along the way stopping off at The Dish nth of Parks (Raidiotelescope) and doing the tourist bits, I went in and snaped a few shoots and made tracks when I went past. The bees and bugs thru the canola areas where plentyful having to clean the visor even between fuel stops, was a great idear having a full face. Adam was jumping in every frozen over pool we came across making some of us wonder about this fetish. On the wed morning Marko and co headed out for Ballarat while I went to Shepparton for a service and left there at 3.30pm to head over and meet up with them for dinner. I purchased Tom Tom Rider2 sat nav system and updated my maps befor I left and what a time saver as the sun set on me and Im trying to get to the group at a caravan park in Ballarat from a town somewhere and I just punch in where I wanted to be and it took me strait there and saved me looking for turns and signs as just follow the directions on Tom Tom.

With Chuckles, Gypsy and co on the move to meet up with us in Ballarat we  took in the sights of Ballarat and some bike shops, the buildings from NSW sth where very nice with the stone pitch. A visit to the Eureka Centre was what we had come for and wow what a treat. We organised a visit to the sound and light show at Sovergien hill and another wow factor well worth the money. We were made feel welcome at every spot we went to. the Eureka Hotel was a great spot nice big meals at a even better price. We left a shirt with the groups names written on it to be put up in the hotel.

We had the use of a farm house offered to me from a good mate Jack, we made tracks to the farm on the day we had planned to do the Ocean rd. The group split up with some heading north to Mildura and the rest went to the farm. Well the weather was turning a bit how u doin and wets where the go, we got to the farm and settled in fighting over the warmest places smile. I had mine booked for months so I was sweet as bro. The women folk had put a roast dinner together and we headed for the Black Duck just up the rd to mees Jacks parents and a few of his mates. Once again we made ourselves at home near the fire place and got yarning to the patrons. The publican and his family were great too, after a few to many we made our way back to the roast dinner and Jacks mum came along too. What a night the best sofar.

The next day we packed up n said our good byes and headed off..... well for some of us , my rear wheel went all sloppy and I pulled off the road and thought a flat tyre but a wheel bearing had failed, that was me for the next few days till I could get it fixed in Shepparton. RACQ went to work sorting me witha room and hire car. On the Monday my bike was back on the road with a lot of help from the Harley dealer Jamie. Marko and crew had headed north and where a day or so ahead of me and Gypsy and Reen where on the move towards west wyhalong and thats where I had to meet up with them and then we traveled onto Parks for the night. Marko was still another day away. Next day we rode upto Goondiwindi to meet up with Kojack and Moose. The next day would see most of the group back together for the night as we caught up with Marko in Yamba nth of Rocky. Next day we made good time to land back in Townsville at 4.30pm safe n sound. What a great 2 weeks on the road, ya missed a great time.

The next few months see most of the branches doing some unreal rides with the BIG ONE in August / Sept can't wait to be freezin me nuts off ! But never fear we are in the planning stages for next year and Broome is the destination over 14 days again. So good on the members of the SC and here is to another year.cool

Ok well we have the merchandise page up for members to checkout and give Gypsy a call to order your gear. Branches outside Townsville email Bender with your ride dates to be added to the calendar and dont be shy to use the forums too to get yor message to the club members. I won't be able to make it for the Moranbah Party but I will be thinking of you all having a great time. So here is to a Big  WeekEnd.

With the floods in nth Qld and the fires in Vic makes you wonder why we love this land we live in and then you see why, the millions $ that have been raised to help the needy get back on there feet. Glad to be an Aussie and proud.
