Eudoxia Vervain

Be enchanted. . .

+ And the story never ends with Jack and Jill holding hands...+

Eudoxia Vervain is a musical project born from the artist's dream of reaching out to people through music. Feel free to check around this website and see what EV has to offer...

How shall one describe the music of Eudoxia Vervain?

Even the artist herself gets confused. She believes her music doesn't sound like anything out there. But she's been likened to artists like Tori Amos, Bjork, Kate Bush, Liz Phair, Diamanda Galas, and Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls.

She even once asked her friend, "If you didn't know me and you randomly came across my music (like on the internet while surfing), then what kind of impression would you have? How would you classify my music?" And this friend replied:

...the artists that I usually like aren't that easy to label. Perhaps, it's because they make their own brand of music. For example, I have no idea how I could possibly label Bjork's music. Saying that it's rock or alternative doesn't give it much justice. This is also how I feel about your music, Libby- it has a class of it's own. But, of course, just to simplify things, here are some words and very general descriptions that come to mind: Piano and Voice, A lot of Goth music influence, Playful childlike music, a tinge of classical music too in terms of piano style, Dark and moody at times, and always moving, genuine and honest...

However way you see it, Libby's music is special to her. She expresses herself through her musical alter-ego Eudoxia Vervain and dreams of being able to reach out to people through her music.

Eudoxia Vervain is a musical project Libby hopes people will appreciate. And once you hear it, it's either you like it or you don't.

A Little Interview with Libby

What do you like most about 'Eudoxia Vervain'?

What I like most about her is that she's not me! Hahaha. Yeah, it's sucked to be me. Seriously now, Eudoxia Vervain is a solo project/alter-ego I have a lot of fun and special moments with. It's cool to be able to slip off to another world.

It gets lonely to play alone though. So I'm always yearning for collaborations and I would love for my music to be played by a band.

Why did you choose the electronic keyboard, acoustic piano, soprano flute, percussion, and voice?

I love the piano! I've preferred an acoustic piano to the electronic keyboard, but the keyboard's also fun to tinker around with. And flute... It plays the music of my heart. I've played it since I was 12. Loved it ever since. And percussion... What can I say? I have a passion for beat!

And voice... Well, I never really liked to sing, but it's fun to anyway. Especially when it's time to add those backing vocals. Yeah, fun times.

How would you describe yourself?

I am me.

Your favorite artists?

Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten. --G.K. Chesterton

Are there people you admire?

I admire a lot of people. If you're talking famous ones, then I'd say people like Tori Amos and Bjork.

Anything else?
