Deamons
Elementals: The form of the first deamons was not solid, an orb of a single element held in place by a stone in the center that held a gravitational field to keep the fire, water, earth, wind, or any other material in place and make it capable to interact with its surroundings. They had no reproductive organs, or any organs at all, the same as jellyfish though intangible. Moving on air currents they had little choice in where they went, their bodies setting fire to or drowning whatever caught inside them.
Birth of a Deamon Name The deamon name originated from a confusion of species on behalf of the humans. Because of the similarities of power and appearance as a manifestation of elements [Wind, Water, Fire, Ice, Earth, etc.] along with the accidental burning of crops on the behalf of the fire elements, the drowning of beasts because of the water elementals, tornadoes and windstorms credited to wind elements, they were mistaken for the demons in a biblical sense by the humans and were called as such.
Prior to that they had no name, knowing the difference in each other instinctually, needing no titles for each other, or for their species.
Slavery:The central gem that held together the bodies of the elementals was a renewable regenerating energy source, non-polluting and unendingly useful. Sorcerers, mages, wizards and magicians alike worked for centuries to devise a way to harness this energy source into something that they could use. Placing the deamons gems inside a solid crystal ball could be used to contain the deamons as well as siphon the power out of them to be used to their own demands.
Life Spans: Demons lifespan reached well beyond any recollection and through further investigation if was found that some demons could be traced back to the ages of Merlin, and some even farther to the dawn of the Alchemist era. The only way to Kill an elemental was to get hold of it's heart and destroy it through various methods, though how the sorcerers of old ever got hold of a elementals heart has never been determined it is well known that hundreds if not thousands of elementals were enslaved and destroyed through out the 'Slavery Ages'.
Escaping Slavery: The free elementals, their numbers growing few in the ages of a bloom in sorcery after the sources of power was found in them, searched for a way to become immune to the crystals that they were caught in.
The solution was simple, all they needed was to become tangible, to create solid bodies for themselves to encase the small gem inside their bodies so the sorcerers could not take it from them.
Creating Bodies: Each deamon did not have enough power in them to create a solid body from the elements and inanimate objects. They would need a pre-existing body to place themselves inside. Humans were the answer to this problem. They took human bodies and removed the life force from inside them to make room for their own that would replace it. It was found that they would need a second source of power besides the gem that held them together to give them the boost needed to place themselves in the hollowed out shells of the human bodies.
Guardian Beasts: The elementals sought out beasts of a mythical sense, hydras, unicorns, dragons, beasts whose very essence wreaked of power and magic. Taking these beasts to the place where the shells were placed, sacrificing the animals to use their life source to bind them into the human shells and in doing so the creatures were also bound to the bodies and the elementals that used them.
Appearance: Because of the binding power in the human bodies that were very sensitive to change and prone to mutations when introduced to magic, the new shells that the deamons had created began to exhibit new characteristics. The round human ears became long and pointed, sometimes sporting fur or tufts on the end. Their eyes changed color with fierce emotions, pigment filling them from sacs behind the soft tissue of their eye. Another small sac released chemicals into the eye that floods it with a neon chemical allowing them to see in the dark. Their pupils became slits, usually to accompany that of the beast they were fused with.
Their nails became more like claws, sometimes having shortened fingers with only three or four digits.
Birth of a Species: The new creatures adopted the name "Deamons" (Humans Pronounced Day-mons) the pronunciation separating them from their brothers and sisters that refused to adopt the new forms and quickly died out due to over predication from demon hunters among humans and sorcerers. With their new human like form their long life spans were dramatically shortened, though the age that deamons are prone to expire is unknown it is calculated that the oldest deamon is around 1500 years old.
Female Deamons: Because deamon females were rare even during the prosperous times of yore, the deamons took different creatures as their mates, the selection varied from Magi to Animals. Because of cross breeding with beasts new different species of deamons were born, Fox deamons, Cat deamons and Wolf deamons were the most common but in some situations depending on the location Lion deamons, Horse deamons and even crocodile deamons were born. These certain deamons were blessed with different abilities, because of the thin barrier from human (in the sence of a two legged capable of speech creature) to animal the spirit of the creature that was passed down through their family line was able to surface and in some instances the deamons learned to control the spirit and use its powers to contort and change their form into something different and more true to their natural state. These forms were soon called 'deamon forms' because they were directly characteristic to deamons, no other creatures in the magi world could change shapes in such a way to match their spirit.
