Enrollment Cards
We must have a signed and notarized enrollment card for each student upon arrival at camp. Be sure the card is complete, notarized, and a copy of the student's personal insurance card is attached. It is important that students and parents read the information bulletin that will be attached to the enrollment card.
What to Bring
-
Comfortable shoes (at least 2 pair). Students will be on their feet for extended periods of time marching or going to and from rehearsals. Sandals will not be permitted during rehearsal time.
-
Flip-flops for use in the shower and pool area.
-
Sunscreen. Students can be exposed to the sun for several long periods each day.
-
Shirts. Shirts that offer protection for the shoulders, upper chest, and back are stronly recommended.
-
Hats. With a wide brim or baseball cap to help keep sun off the face.
-
Bedding. Students should have pillows and sleeping bags or other sheets and blankets for their bunks.
-
Good work ethic. The work done during this week will directly influence the overall result and outcome of our entire season. Dedication and the appropriate attitude is vital to our success as a band.
Housing
Students from one band are not housed in the same room with students from another band or with any staff member or counselor. Rooms vary in capacity from 10 per room to as many as 20; however, most will house 12-14 students. Due to fluctuating figures before camp, housing is not completed until a few days before your camp. Pre-assignment of rooms is recommended as it will eliminate confusion and delays during check-in.
Keys
Two students in each room will be assigned keys. There will be a charge of four dollars for lost or damaged keys.
Dormitories
Rooms assigned to a band are determined solely by camp administrators. Any severe damage to a room will be assessed at actual cost of materials and labor, and billed to the school. The same camp representative inspects the room at the end of each camp session. This person is aware of any damages that existed before your group arrived. The band director, if he wishes, may inspect all rooms on arrival for damages existing before the group's arrival. Room inspection will be completed daily on each room and damage, if any, will be reported to administration and the director on the same day. As a daily incentive for the students, the cleanest room for the girls and the boys for the week will have a pizza party on Thursday night. The highest daily inspection score will be rewarded with after hours pool access. The following is an actual room inspection score card:

Student Center
The air-conditioned student center contains a snack bar, game machines, and tables and chairs. It will open during student free time. Items available include: soft drinks, candy, snack cakes, chips, nachos, chicken vittles, and pizzas. Camp T-shirts, stamps, envelopes, film, toothpaste, and other necessary items are also available. Items are reasonably priced and the profit goes to underwrite the expense associated with the center's operation. Soft drinks/candy/food, etc. ARE NOT to be brought to camp and may not be kept in rooms to prevent attracting insects.
Medical Care
Qualified first-aid personnel are on duty 24 hours a day for emergencies. Services provided for minor problems are included in the camp fee. Directors should collect medications (prescription and over the counter) prior to leaving for camp and deliver to the medical staff upon arrival. Medications will be accessible to students during their stay and will be retained until departure on Friday. Our concentrated training program requires a fair amount of physical endurance. The human body that has been physically inactive (e.g., inside watching TV all summer), has difficulty adjusting to the completely different rigorous activity of our training program. By encouraging your students to be physically active 2 or 3 weeks before camp, or by conducting a conditioning program yourself, you will see vastly superior results. Medical problems will be at a minimum and you will accomplish more during the week.
Medical Treatment Procedure
If the reason for medical treatment is an emergency (possible life-threatening situation), student is immediately transported to nearest doctor or hospital. Parents are notified immediately after the student is on his or her way for treatment and advised to which doctor or hospital he or she was taken. If reason for medical treatment is non-emergency, parents are not notified until after student returns from doctor or hospital. Camp medical personnel will call and give parents diagnosis, treatment, and doctor's advice.
Medical Insurance
Included in the camp fee is sickness and accident insurance. This insurance covers any accident occurring on our grounds up to the limit of the policy. It does NOT cover a deliberate act (fighting or initiations) or self-inflicted injury, nor does it cover treatment for any pre-existing injury or illness. It covers illness occurring while at camp also, only if doctor's diagnosis determines illness may have originated at camp. It does not cover illness diagnosed after camp period has ended. Camp administration will see that any student requiring professional medical care will receive that care. Insurance claims will be processed for any allowable injury or illness. Should a doctor or hospital visit not covered by camp insurance be required, parents will be billed by the doctor or hospital providing the services. Parents' personal medical coverage will, in most cases, take care of such treatment either wholly or partially.
Initiations
Initiations or hazing of any kind are prohibited. The camp is not liable for any injury sustained as a result of deliberate acts. Damages and medical bills that are occurred will be the responsibility of the parents of the students involved.
Security
A night watchman patrols the facility from taps until reveille. If a room is noisy or out of order, the band director is summoned. If the problem persists, camp administration will take disciplinary steps. Anyone outside their room in an unauthorized area during this time will be sent home.
