MY BIO
My name is Ernest Johnson and I go by the pen-name of Ernie Johnson. I'm 59 and due to turn 60 in February, the Lord willing and the creek don't rise. I'm single and was married three times. That means I've been divorced three times as well. Oh well, no-one's perfect.
I've been writing since 1983. My first attempt at writing came as a ghost writer for a friend. I had an electric typewriter, at the time, and he had a 750 handwritten page book (actually several books with a total of 750 pages) he wanted me to get ready for possible submission to a publisher. At that time my knowledge of writing was little to none, but I said I'd try. It took me two years, several reams of paper, many typewriter ribbons, and a total of nine rewrites. Unlike nowadays, with the advancement of the computer age, I didn't have the luxury of Spell-check - grammar-check - or word counts - so I did it the old fashioned way. When I finished, but as I look back now, it was nowhere near finished, I could not find my friend anywhere on the planet. He completely vanished off the face of the earth. Not willing to steal his work, even though I did the bulk of the writing on it (1500 ds typewritten pages) so I kept the work for eight years and then trashed it when he could not be found.
It was during that two years that I developed a desire to write for myself. I started with something I knew and worked from there. That first book was rewritten a total of 11 times before it finally made print with Lulu.com in 2004. OVERTURNED will be highlighted on these pages as well as a short blurb and excerpt. After I worked on Overturned, I was challenged to write a Christian novel, by my then second wife, who literally felt my efforts were worthless, so I wrote Mountain of Love and Mountain of Love II. Now rewritten and published as one novel, MOUNTAIN OF LOVE is also highlighted on these pages with a short blurb and excerpts.
It wasn't until the summer of 2001, when I met a young man with a dream, or an idea, that I rekindled my writing, having stayed away from the writing profession for a number of years. With James Floyd as my co-author, I wrote DESTINY OF THE DIVAS. After several rewrites and many complete and thorough edits, Destiny of the Divas was published in 2003 with Lulu.com and has been revised twice since that time. Destiny of the Divas II - Angel of Mercy was added in 2004. Both books are highlighted on these pages with blurbs and excerpts.
In 2005 I added KASHMANTOU and my nano novel this month (December) of LET FREEDOM RING.
