For years, Ermac was rumored to exist in Outworld. It was said that he was a warrior with incredible power, made up of the souls of dead Outworld warriors. He was rumored to wear only red, signifying the blood of the fallen warriors contained within him, and to possess telekinetic powers. When Shao Kahn began his invasion of Earth it seemed that the rumors had been true when a warrior calling himself Ermac joined Kahn's extermination squads. Those who believe him to truly be the Ermac that was rumored about do so because of his red clothing, great fighting ability, and limited mastery of telekinesis. Ermac himself has said very little to confirm or deny the rumors. He seemed only to be interested in proving himself to be a supremely skilled warrior by becoming the new Mortal Kombat champion. He didn't get his chance before Kahn was driven out of the Earth realm. As this new tournament starts, Ermac voices his desire to fight for the Outworld, in his usual manner giving no indication why. Some believe he wants his chance to battle the current Mortal Kombat champion Liu Kang. Others, who believe he is a being made of Outworld's dead souls, believe he wants Outworld to merge with all other realms because he cannot exist in those realms otherwise.

Ermac's telikentic fatality is my favorite one it's so cool.Johny Cage's stolen one (where Ermac uppercuts and rips off Stryker's head in the animated gif I have up there)sucked that made the rumor that Ermac was Johny Cage in discise he never apeard in the mk3 storyline but when Mortal Kombat Trilogy was released the rumors were proven faulse because Ermac and Johny Cage were in the same game and you can't be two places at once right

In an outer chamber of the Dragon King's throne room, Ermac did battle with Liu Kang's enslaved comrades. Ermac was more than a match for the five warriors, but their defeat was not his objective. Liu Kang materialized and, one by one, freed their souls while Ermac occupied the rest. 
Eventually, all five were awakened from their enchantment and freed from Onaga's control. Ermac was pleased that his warrior skills could for once bring about a noble outcome. He sensed, however, that an ominous force still shaped the destiny of the realms. It was everywhere. He could feel its influence on Onaga, though the Dragon King was oblivious to its manipulation. Time was running out. Ermac feared the celebration of this latest victory would be short-lived.
