Lou's Performance closes for good

It all came to an end for Lou on Tuesday June 30th. It was the final day that Lou had the keys to his Arlington Street business. Lou decided back in March it was time to call it quits for his auto repair
shop. Rumor went around the town that he was looking for a smaller location, but that never happened. On June 20th Lou held an absolute auction where he auctioned off all sorts of things. Some items went cheap, and some went for more than people expected. By the end of the day almost everything in the building was sold to someone. Many people hauled out their purchases on Saturday, but some waited until the following week. “It sad to see a shop like this close. It was a place I enjoyed coming to,” stated a man at the auction. Lou’s Performance has been in the Akron area for almost 40 years as it was formally located on Johnson Street, but moved to two different locations on Arlington Street.
“I never thought I’d go out of business,” said Lou. Lou’s Performance Sales and Machines employed four other workers besides Lou. Don Proper, who worked in the machine shop at Lou’s attended the auction just to see how much stuff went for.
“Lou never really put any money into the building, so it wasn’t the best place to work,” said Proper. When we asked Don what he thought of the auction he said “I never thought of anything then, and I don’t think anything of it now.” Don worked at Lou’s for 30 years, and was not sure what he was going to do now that it was closing. The building was bought by a man named Fred who owns a car lot next door to Lou’s He plans to open a custom car shop and do repairs on cars. As for Lou’s, the sign remains on Arlington, but memories of the shop will always be around.

Are flip-flops more harm than good?
As soon as the weather starts to warm up men and women start wearing flip-flops, but are those flip-flops more harm than good? It used to be that flip-flops would be worn to the beach or the locker room, but now it seems in the past few years that they have become the footwear of choice for many.
