Cloudland Cabin

Are you looking to get away from it all?

High on top of Lookout Mountain in Chattooga County in the Northwest corner of Georgia, sits an original log cabin built in 1930.  Only a hop and a skip from the Alabama state line, the cabin is situated on exactly 5 acres of beautiful woods and level pastureland.  It is fenced and cross fenced for horses with a pond for their drinking and well-stocked with bass and brim for your catching.  The barn has three stalls, tack room and room for vehicles to park.  An outdoor workshop currently holds handmade rustic furniture.

Cloudland is unincorporated with no zoning and no building permits, so the cabin can be either residential or commercial or both as it is now.  The property taxes are just shy of $500.00 per year.  The cabin has quite a history and is considered to be one of the most unusual around.  It operated as a plant nursery back in the 1950's so there are magnificent trees and shrubs everywhere.

A wide porch wraps around the cabin and a tin roof covers it.  Yes, the bathroom is indoors, as well as two living areas (each with a fireplace), a dining room, large kitchen, bedroom, separate laundry room with hookups and a sunny back room that can be for sitting or sleeping.  Stairs in the kitchen go up to an unfinished attic with plenty of storage space.

This is a truly unique place less than 50 miles from I-75 North at the Adairsville exit.  From there, drive west on Hwy. 140 approximately 15 miles until it dead ends into Hwy. 27.  Go right on 27 and continue 14 miles to Summerville.  There, just after crossing railroad tracks, bear left onto Hwy.48 and take that approximately 9 miles to Menlo.  Go straight through Menlo and you'll begin to climb the mountain.  You'll pass through a blinking light as you top the mountain at the intersection of Hwy. 157 (Lookout Mountain Parkway).  Continue about a mile and you'll see Cloudland Trade Center on the right and directly across from it, the cabin.

If you're looking to really get away from it all, give me a call and come on up and see the most uninhabited, gorgeous part of the Georgia mountains!
