In Memory of Mounty

For all of you who didn't know Mounty, he was an awesome horse. He was a lesson horse at the barn I used to ride at. He wasn't the hunter type(he was a little arab)and he couldn't really jump but he taught so many kids to ride(including myself). He was retired in October at the age of 14. A few days ago on the cover of the paper there was an article about a horse that had been intentionally shot and killed at close range. That horse was Mounty. He was in the pasture with all of the other horses and somene shot him in between his jaw bones. However, He didn't even have the relief of dying right away. He slowly bled to death in the field for about 10 hours until his owners found him. No one knows who did it. Somewhere in this world there is a person evil enough to walk right up to a horse, look it in its eye, and shoot it in the head. I guess I will never understand why someone would do such a horrible thing, but by writing this I want other people to know about Mounty. I want other people to realize that their horses aren't as safe as they think they are. I don't live in the city, I live in a rural part of Ohio. If Mounty was in a high quality show barn and was killed, it could happen almost anywhere. If you read this, pass the story on to your friends so that Mounty will be remembered. There is picture of him on my nightstand and I'm going to try to get a picture of him on this page. This page is dedicated all horses who didn't deserve to die the way they did. - By Horseland player #1376287
