| Sweetie is a 5 year old Quarterpony mare whose previous owner became seriously ill. She was in and out of the hospital many times for quite some time, and it became apparent to her owner that she needed to sell her horses in order to take care of her health.

In March 2005 it became apparent to the owner that she was no longer able to care for her horses, and put them for sale. A group of friends decided to help and inventory the horses, take descriptions and current photos to help in the sale. I decided to purchase Sweetie, the last of the herd to find a new home.
June 4, 2005, when she got off the trailer, it was apparent that something was not right with this little girl. Despite her poor coat condition, she had apparently foundered as she had rings from coronet to toe, and was extremely sore on gravel.

Her eyes also appeared "bulgy", and she would jump when you touched her (despite talking to her soothingly as you approached). She had a difficult time unloading from the trailer. When she was out in the sunlight, I was clearly able to see the cataracts in both eyes. Over the course of her first couple of days, it became obvious that she had very poor vision. She would bump into you, trip over rocks and her bucket, and would sniff to find her hay pile.
She also had a very bloated belly. Its possible she was bred, as she was exposed to various studs over a few years, without settling. She had an enlarged udder as well, dead lice in her mane (she had been deloused before making the trip), she had numerous bald patches, an extremely oily feeling, dirty, rough haircoat with an odd shedding pattern.
