The Rules

After you read the rules, please take a look at the New Members Manual!

General
• Respect all members & staff. No disrespect will be tolerated at EL.
• No racist, ethnic, or sexist insults (or anything of the sort).
• Due to the law, you must be 13 or older to play EL. If you are younger and still wish to play,
you will need a parent permission E-Mail.
• No references to drugs, alcohol, etc. is permitted. This is a horse simulation game for everyone to
have fun.
• Violate any of the above rules and you will be suspended or banned accordingly.
• Any issues between members should be taken up with a staff member.

Time/Ageing
• EL goes by real life time. The show season begins on January 1st each year.
• We will use 'YOB' for 'Year of Birth', so you don't have to change the age on all of your horses each year
• However, in order to keep the game pace moving, foals born into the game will age at a faster rate. Horses aged
• So, when your foal is born, you will want to include the exact day & year that the foal was born on, so you can keep track of how fast they are ageing. Example, if your foal was born on May 10th, 2008, in their stats somewhere you should include: YOB: May 10th, 2008, so on June 10th they'll be a year old, July 10th they'll be two years old, August they'll be three & can show in halter/futurity classes, and in September they'll be four & can start showing & training in baby green/etc. After they turn four, you don't have to include the month/day, you can just put the year since they will age normally.
• But why shouldn't foals age like every other horse? Well, we want to actually be able to use our foals, not just have them be exces stock for two real life years!

Starting Out
• I recommend you read the New Members Manual. It contains everything
you need to do to get started on EL.
• All members begin the game as 'Newbies' (see Levels & Priviliges for information on member levels).
• All members begin with $100,000 & two Create-A-Horse credits, which are kept track of in the Member Info Center.
• When you're ready to use your creation credits, go to the 'Equine Registry' (a link on the home page
of EL). You'll see the database of all horses in EL. To use a creation credit, just click on 'New', and fill
out the horse stats. Be sure that the breeds you choose are accepted. HORSES DO NOT EXIST UNLESS THEY ARE
IN THE REGISTRY!
• You could also visit the Humane Association and adopt a horse there.
• No new player may begin creating horses, etc., until their joining thread has been accepted by a staff member.
• Once a staff member accepts, memebers should set up their bank account (see Banking
section for more information).
• Also, new members need to register themselves on the 'Equestrian Registry', a link that is also found on the
home page of EL. Like the Equine Registry, the Equestrian Registry is a database of ALL players & SIM Riders in EL.
You must first register yourself (give yourself a fake last name, and remember YOB does not have to be your real
life YOB), then you can register as many SIM Riders as you want (see SIM Riders).
• All equines & players that have registered in the databases will receive a #. This # is crucial, as it shows that
the horse & SIM Rider is valid. Without the #, your horse or SIM Rider is considered invalid as they are not technically registered.
• New members will need to find a stable to board their horses at, since they cannot yet own a stable (see Levels & Priviliges
for more information).
• After that, members are ready to go! They will need to get their horses vetted & shod, and purchase tack before
they can show.

somewhat challenging, so you would only be defeating the purpose. If you are caught
cheating with money, you will be suspended accordingly.
• Checks must ALWAYS be written when an exchange of money is given for something between
two members. It should be written in the following format:

To:
From:
Date:
Amount: $
Memo: (what is the money for?)
Signed: (your signature)

• If you are a boarding stable, it is YOUR job to collect boarding fees from your boarders. You
may choose to PM (on the Forum) or E-Mail your boarders to PM or E-Mail you their checks.

Horse Points System
• KEEP IN MIND: these are different from Show Points! These are horse points that grant horses a certain title.
• Symbols are added in front of a horse's name to signify their title. Symbols stay with the horse forever, so if
a horse moves up a title, you do not erase their previors symbol, they keep adding on (see below).
• Just a note: Title symbols are NOT used in the Equine Registry. There is a stat spot for each horse that says 'Title',
and that's where you would put either 'None', 'Junior Champion', etc. Title symbols can be used on the Forum & in your stable
• WHERE TO & WHERE NOT TO USE TITLE SYMBOLS...

• Where to use them...
• on your own stable web page
• on the Forum

• Where NOT to use them...
• in the Equine Registry
• in Shows

0-199: No title awarded to horse (Example: Thunder)
200-499: Junior Champion. Symbol added to name: * (Example: *Thunder)
500-999: Champion. Symbol added to name: ** (Example: **Thunder)
1000-1599: Grand Champion. Symbol added to name: GC (Example: GC**Thunder)
1600-2499: World Champion. Symbol added to name: WC (Example: WCGC**Thunder)
2500+: Elite Champion. Symbol added to name: E (Example: EWCGC**Thunder)

Horses
• All horses must be vetted & shod every year. No execeptions. If not, they will be sent to the
Humane Association and put up for adoption.
• All horses must have proper tack in order to be shown.
• If you wish to sell your horse(s), it may be done in the 'Sales' section of the Forum. If you wish
to Auction your horse(s), contact a staff member to get it set up for you.
• Do not bite off more than you can chew...so to speak...try not to take on more horses than you can keep
up with. If a staff member notices this, they may ask that you sell some of your excess stock. Too many horses
will clutter the game.
• Once a horse has been created, there is no 'deleting' them. They are in the game and will stay.
• EL is a game based primarily on English style riding, therefore as of right now Western disciplines are not
permitted. This helps shows fill their classes, etc. Below is a list of accepted breeds on EL AND accepted disciplines.

Breeding/Foals
• Mares may begin breeding at age 4
• Stallions may begin breeding at age 3
• Pregnancy time for mares is TWO REAL LIFE WEEKS. This is to keep the game pace moving.
• Example, if you breed your mare on July 1st, your mare will foal approximately on July 15th.
• Mares can only be bred in the SPRING and SUMMER. Absolutely NO breeding allowed in the FALL or WINTER.
Therefore, real life months in which mares can be bred: March, April, May, June, July, August.
• Stallions may breed a maximum of 5 times per real life month.
• You may put your stallions for stud on the 'Stud' section of the Forum, where players may want to reserve a booking
for their mare(s).
• If you are breeding your mare to a stallion, once you have either picked one of your own stallions OR reserved a
booking with a stud and have paid, you will need to post a thread in 'Breeding' including the parents' stats. You should include
stats for every pair you are breeding, if possible, to make it easier for staff members to post stats for everyone.
• When it is time for foaling (2 weeks after breeding), a staff member will post the stats of the new foal.
You can then add them to your horse thread and have them in your stable to be raised.
• There are, on occassion, stillbirths. There are also times in which a mare is bred but did not conceive.
• On the other end of the spectrum, twins are also rare but possible. Do not ask for twins, that will guarantee
that you DO NOT get them.
• Once a staff member gives you the stats, you will need to register your foal on the Equine Registry. Remember to include
the month/day that the foal was born on, since foals age one year every real life month.

Mini-Barns
• As can be found in the priviliges, only Green Ribbon Members & up can own Mini-Barns.
• In order to own a Mini-Barn, you must first have a main stable. They are simply an addition
to your main stable.
• Mini-Barns are simply branches off of your main stable. These Mini-Barns are helpful for
separate barns such as Breeding Barns, Training Barns, Rescue Barns, etc.
• Mini-Barns are not 'private or boarding' since they are just branches of your other barn.
• However, you are welcome to make a separate webpage designed for your Mini-Barn.
• One example of using a Mini-Barn would be to keep all of your broodmares & studs in the Mini-Barn,
& your show string at your main stable.

Mini-Barn Horse Rules:
• Your mini-barn can hold a maximum of 20 horses.
• Any amount of stallions, mares, or geldings is fine, as long as you don't own more than your
player level allows.
• So, if you are a Green Ribbon Member for example, and can own a maximum of 3 stallions & own a
maximum of 10 horses, that still applies to your Mini-Barn. So you could, for example, have 2 stallions & 8 horses
in your main stable and 1 stallion & 2 horses in your Mini-Barn. As long as the combined total of horses in your Mini-Barn
& main stable doesn't exceed the amount of horses that your player level allows, you're good to go.

Misc. Mini-Barn Guidelines:
• When asked to input 'Stable' in any form, such as the Equine Registry, you will not put the name of your
Mini-Barn, you will put the name of your main stable + the abbreviation 'MB' for 'Mini-Barn'. So, let's say your stable
is called 'Green Acres Stables' & your mini-barn is called Green Acres Breeding Barn, in a form that asks you to input
'Stable', you will write: Green Acres Stables MB.
• It's okay if you accidentally only put the stable name instead of adding MB to the end, just post an update form
and a staff member will fix it.
• When entering shows, if asked for the Stable Name, you will do the same as listed above, put the stable + MB at the end.
By tagging the 'MB' at the end of your stable, it just makes it clear where the horse lives. But, again, don't panic if you didn't
put MB, the horse is still a part of your stable anyway so it's not a major deal.
• Although these mini-barn rules may seem overwhelming, as long as you know that mini-barns are nothing more than
a PART of your actual stable, then you'll be good!

• Mini-Barns are completely optional, you can just stick to your main stable if you like.
• However, Mini-Barns are NOT cheap. Although creating a stable is free, it costs $50,000 to open a
Mini-Barn.
• Why is the price so high? Because every member could open Mini-Barns if it was free. I would like
members to have somewhat of a challenge to own one, as they are a special privilege.
• As of right now, you cannot own more than one Mini-Barn. This rule may be subject to change.
• The following criteria must be met in order for you to be able to open a Mini-Barn:

›› You are a Green Ribbon Member, Red Ribbon Member, or Gold Member
›› You already own a Stable, whether it be boarding or public
›› You have $50,000 in finances to pay for a Mini-Barn
›› Your Mini-Barn actually will serve a valid purpose for your main stable.
›› You submit an application & check, which are approved by a staff member.

• If you have any more questions about Mini-Barns, feel free to PM any questions about them to Emma.
• To get into the Mini-Barn subforum, you have to include a p/w which shows that you've read through
these rules. The current p/w is 'rodeo'.

Showing
• Horses should only show in a specified discipline. They should not cross over disciplines.
• In order to be shown, horses must have proper tack, and be properly vetted & shod.
• Also, you must have a trailer big enough to carry all of your horses to a competition. Trailers & trucks
can be bought at a trailer store under 'Businesses'.
• You may have SIM Riders ride your horses in shows. This is because you cannot be in x-amount of places at once,
and will need SIM riders to show your horses for you. These riders are created entirely by you on the Equestrian Registry.
(see SIM Riders for more information).
• Ponies should ONLY be ridden by riders aged 15 or under. Riders 16+ can only ride horses.
*Update 7/06/08: Stallions can ONLY be ridden by riders 16+.
*Update 7/06/08: PONY Stallions can ONLY be ridden by riders aged 14-15.
• Do not overshow your horses. This means that horses should not compete in more than 10 shows per REAL LIFE month,
and horses should not compete in more than 10 classes PER SHOW.
*Update 7/15/08: So you & your horses do not dominate each class, you cannot enter
more than 5 of your own horses in each class. However, show hosters could limit this even further. Example,
a show might allow only 3 horses per stable per class. Otherwise, you could have endless SIM riders & horses
in each class.

• Show results must be 100% RANDOM, meaning you can use a site like randomizer.org.
• Show points awarded are as follows, this is STANDARD and is the point system in which EVERY show will go by:
1st Place: 20 points
2nd Place: 15 points
3rd Place: 10 points
4th Place: 5 points
5th Place: 3 points
6th Place and below: 2 points

• If you are hosting a show, you MUST meet the deadline in which you set for show results to be in. It is unfair
for competitors if you don't meet those requirements. You should also set requirements for a day in which all entries to
be in, so you can allow yourself as much time as you want to run the results. Failure to post results on time will result in
a subtraction of 20 player points, and you will not be permitted to host another show for 2 more real life months.
• Of course, if there is an emergency situation those rules can be overriden. Contact staff if this happens.
• Special prizes may be given out by the show host, like trophies, certificates, tack, etc.

SIM Riders
• SIM Riders are created by you in the Equestrian Registry.br> • You can have as many SIM Riders as you like.
• You might also choose to show off your SIM Riders on one of your stable's pages.
• You can assign SIM Riders to any of your horses that you choose.
• SIM Riders might be a part of your "family", or they can just be SIM people who ride at your stable.
• Even if you do not own a stable, you can have SIM Riders.

Thanks for taking the time to read through the Rules!! They are subject to change at any time by a staff member,
and are always open to suggestions. Have fun at EL! :)
