What do you do when you have an ache or pain? You rub the area. It’s a natural response, whether or not you are familiar with the medical knowledge behind those actions. This systematic rubbing and manipulation of body tissue, known as massage, is very popular with people of all backgrounds from top athletes to people wishing to be ‘pampered’. Massage has been deemed beneficial to reduce stress, enhance blood circulation, decrease pain, improve sleep, decrease swelling, enhance relaxation and increase oxygen capacity of the blood. Massage has also been recognised as a non-drug treatment for post operative pain therefore reducing recovery time.
People can and do benefit from massage, why not your horse? Whether competing or riding for pleasure, your horse should be free from pain and discomfort to allow you a safe and enjoyable ride.

As a Certified Equine Massage Therapist (CEMT), Rachel is available to perform a combination of massage techniques on your horse. She has a BSc in zoology and is a RCVS registered veterinary nurse, her knowledge of animals is more than skin deep!
