Eastern Panhandle of WV Autism Group

Joining together to make sense of the puzzle

Help the environment, help our group!

The Annual Autism Speaks walk in Washington, DC is coming up in November and in order to raise some funds for our team I have set up a Phoneraiser.

Here's How It Works:
Simply collect used cell phones and ink cartridges from your family, friends, neighbors, and businesses in your community. To qualify for payment, a cell phone must power up, make a test call, and have an undamaged LCD screen. The phone should not be damaged beyond normal wear. Clear off all personal information from cell phone. Cartridges must not be broken, i.e. cartridge case, circuitry, or print head. Refilled cartridges are considered broken. Please pack carefully. Remember, you can send all types of cell phones and/or ink jet cartridges to Phoneraiser. If they do not qualify, they will be disposed of properly. If a cartridge is larger than the palm of your hand, it is not an ink jet. Phoneraiser does not accept accessories such as earpieces, chargers, manuals, etc. However, Phoneraiser encourages you to include the cell phone batteries with your shipment, as batteries contain many toxic substances and should be recycled properly.

Please let me know if you have a large amount that you need to get out of your way and I can pick them up. If you have ideas for locations for setting up a collection box - go ahead and go for it. There are tips online and posters you can print out to help with this.

This is from the website
The average household in the U.S. contains three used cell phones. Many owners keep these used phones because they don’t know how to dispose of them properly. This adds up to over 500 million used cell phones in the U.S.
Collect these cell phones and ink cartridges to earn the money you need while helping the environment at the same time.
