Greetings and Welcome to EPIC Academy!!
We have gone before the Idaho State Charter Commission and have received their recommendations to edit our Petition. So, currently that's what we are doing. The facilities location that we fell in love with has proven to be outside of our budget. Which is unfortunate as the location was ideal and the seller was AWESOME!! We are currently looking for somewhere else to call home. The biggest sticking point is that we just don't have the funds to do much. If you, or anyone you know, would be willing to donate to our facilities fund, please contact Danelle Baumgarten-Pickett at either dbpickett1@gmail.com or (208) 704-2659. Actually....we would take donations of any kind....Land would be great!! :-) Ideally we would like to be in the Hayden area, to access City services, but we need to reside within the Lakeland School District. If we can find something in or around Rathdrum, that would be a great alternative!
I have received emails from several parents expressing interest in EPIC and they want to know how to help. Right now the biggest help would be volunteers! We need fundraising ideas and the terrific people needed to pull of a successful fundraising event. We are currently looking into having a booth at the North Idaho Fair to get the word out and to drum up additional support. This booth would have to be staffed at all times, so if you would have an hour or two (or more!) that you could donate to help us staff the booth, please let us know (I'm a good contact or email Marcia Dettmann @ marciamd0526@gmail.com).
We appreciate your support!!

EPIC Academy intends to provide a “Life Prep” environment for students in grades six through nine, initially, and to gradually expand our program through grade twelve. After achieving grade twelve, we plan to re-evaluate the needs and interest of our community and resources of our program before determining further expansion into the elementary school environment. We believe students learn best when their individual learning styles are understood and their environmental needs are met. The program will be focused on improving skills in reasoning, problem solving, self-exploration, communication, and understanding/coping with emotions. Students will experience a variety of challenging and enriching activities to develop individual strengths. This attention to individual strengths and challenges in a small classroom will allow each student to progress at his/her own rate, thus encouraging more ownership over the educational process. Students should participate in education, not just observe it. Upon completion of our program, students will have experienced multiple situations that adults contend with on a day to day basis in a structured environment, creating the coping skills and personal tools necessary for our students to strive for independence and success in today’s society.
The sun is shining and Spring has finally sprung! It's a joy to see green instead of white! We have a new logo. Please let me know what you think! Thanks to Christy for all of her hard work!!
Our next meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2009 at 7:00pm at the Flip Factory building in Coeur d'Alene, located at 1717 Northwest Boulevard . We look forward to seeing you there!!
