Almost immediately after starting the Never Say Die challenge, I realized that there were some rather significant bugs I had to iron out in... well, four of my five scenarios. Everything but Darkness received a much-needed upgrade, so that now in all of those scenarios there is somewhere you can add new characters to the party. Funny, that forgetting one simple call, "enable_add_chars(1)", can mess up so much.
The important thing is that it's fixed now.

After doing some thinking about the nature of saving and reloading in RPGs, I've decided to conduct a little experiment within Blades of Avernum. The more detailed version has been posted over at the Spiderweb boards, as well as at Shadow Vale. But, to make a long story short, I'm going to take a party of adventurers through the Blades scenarios that are available, and never even once employ the save/reload strategy. If someone dies, and there's no way to resurrect them in the scenario, I'm out of luck.
Anyway, it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm starting with my own scenario, Adrift, and going from there.
Also, I've added some screenshots from another upcoming project, the Siege of Copperpeak.

If you've ever been to this website, then you've probably noticed that everything has changed. If you've never been here before, you're better off with the new layout, believe me. Now the site is divided into more reasonable chunks than before, and of course everything got a layout update. If anything's acting up, shoot me an email and I'll fix it up, because it's entirely possible that I screwed up a link somewhere.
In Blades-related work, I've got another project in front of me right now, and I'll probably be throwing screenshots up here in the none-too-distant future. Return and Snowbound are waiting in the wings, and Brazil (for those who remember it) is still out there somewhere. You can expect more regular updates now as well.

Again, it's been a while since I did anything. My entry for Dahak's Creative Scenario Contest is on hold for now, and I'm piecing together a smaller scenario set in Vantanas. I'll post screenshots eventually, but this isn't about that.
In the process of gathering graphics for this project, I decided it might be nice to simply piece together one well-organized data script and graphics pack for those who aspire to similar settings. So I've taken some of the best graphics the Blades community has ever produced, and slapped together just that. Think of it as a starter kit for tropically-inclined scenarios. Check it out over at the Blades of Avernum page.

I decided that my recent decision to take a Bad Moon run through the Kingdom of Loathing needed something extra. So I decided to log the entire thing in haiku form, and to post it here as I go. Here it is, so enjoy.

It's been a while since I actually committed to finishing a scenario, but I believe I finally have something I can work with. Snowbound will be completed eventually, it's just getting shelved because I ran out of steam on it. The new project, which I'm just calling Return right now, will be part of Dahak's Creative Scenario Contest. Or, it will whenever it gets done. Have a look at some screenshots, which I'll update as the outdoors and towns get drawn.
Enjoy.

It's been a long time since I updates this site, but it's for good reason. I finally made some more outdoor versions of my trees, specifically for the leafless versions. They're over at the graphics section.
As for scenarios, Snowbound is still in progress, and I'm looking at a few smaller projects, with Dahak's Creative Scenario Contest in mind.

As part of my whole "making my website slightly better" plan, I'm finally adding a separate page for spoiler-ific screenshots from my current projects. And if you've read this far without just following the link, you might be wondering what Snowbound is. Well, besides a Halo 3 multiplayer map that I've never had much success on, it's my newest scenario-in-progress. You might have guessed, but it involves snow, and thus the snow terrain set. I'm excited to finally be working with this terrain, just like I'm excited to work with pretty much any set of shiny new graphics.
But hey, the upside is that I actually feel like I can finish this one, particularly now that classes are over for the summer.

Minor site tweaks, including bringing the graphics page up to date. There were a few things that had been buried back in my files, so I cleaned up and dug out the new graphics. I think I'm gonna start putting some screenshots on the scenario page, or somesuch.
That's about it.

Here's an update I'm not happy about writing. Because my old iBook recently died for the final time (may it rest in peace), I now have a Macbook, and thus, Leopard. This development means several things:
1. I can no longer run Classic applications. This is just annoying, 'cause there were a few games I really liked.
2. I no longer have a built-in numeric keypad. This makes designing towns in Blades a colossal pain, and it makes playing Blades more difficult than necessary. For instance, I recently played Witch Hunt and almost started yelling trying to get to the cache at the center of the outdoors.
3. Most of my other applications (such as Spiderweb games and Photoshop) are incompatible with Intel-based Macs. While I can fix the Spidweb games, Photoshop and a host of others are not going to fare so well.
As a result of these complications, I'm probably going to be slowing down my pace of design, which, while sad and annoying, will not be permanent. Fortunately, I had no release projections before, so I don't feel accountable.
Anyway, it's 2am and my apartment's toilet decided to back up again. Lucky me.
Peace.
