Although operating from late 2002, the club was officially started in August 2003. Six of us wanted to get something going after the fall of the old club so we went out on the scooters to find a pub to meet in.
We ended up at the Fighting Cocks and met there every two weeks, word soon got around and before we knew it there was twenty to thirty people.
The call was to move to weekly meetings, which we did.
The clubs name was put to the vote with loads of different names being thrown in, the East Point Drifters Scooter Club won. This was part of two names put forward, East Point SC and Drifters SC (which was the original club back in the sixties).
As for the logo we thought everyone has scooters, targets, and flags so we have something else again people added ideas in and this one was voted in. All this took probably five to six months to sort out. At long last we all agreed and the East Point Drifters were born.
