This two-page fact sheet provides basic information about breast cancer and mammograms. It answers the questions: what is breast cancer, who gets breast cancer, what raises a woman’s chance of getting breast cancer, what are the symptoms, how can I prevent it, is there a test that can find breast cancer early, when should I get a mammogram, what should I expect during a mammogram, and what happens if my mammogram is abnormal.

July 16th, 2009 -- my Wishful thinking on  Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal were to Wed

Us Magazine - 1 hour, 49 minutes ago --June 22nd, 2009//he says they "will" wed "as soon as she can, say yes. ... Maybe we can just nod her head."  "I promise you, we will," he told Walters. "Absolutely."

I wish Ryan would not have waited for the public to see him 'marry the love of his life', nor the two of them wait for the 'perfect moment'--because that moment has been stripped viciously from them. It appears throughout their coupling the 'marriage issue' was no issue at all; however when her strength reserves started plummeting and her spirit started waning, in her third year of a fourth-stage aggressive cancer she battled, she wanted the solidification of her being, 'a married soul'. I sense this strongly as Ryan from the very depths of his soul murmered to Barbra Walters that he 'absolutely' would honor in holy matrimony the woman he shared so many glorious and tough years with as a lover, friend, father but never husband. As she lay in her huge bed the morning this announcement was made, 6-22-09 I felt his 'absolutely' was a mere 'wishful thinking kind of word' despite how much sincerity and commitment was behind it. He dearly loved, more and more over the years. It had me thinking, if this woman waited till a terminal disease to finally become 'wedded' (which she did not), I ask what is making the women out here who are permanent fixtures, taken for granted life-partners but never are going to be honored in 'holy matrimony' for whatever reason ? Why do you honestly stay with someone who swears they will never honor you by marriage but will live with, eat with, sleep with and ocassionally fool around with you till both of you die . . . ?

Anyone care to elaborate ?

New York, N.Y. - May 13, 2009 - The world knew Farrah Fawcett from her years as an award winning actress, a successful model, one of our most recognized pop icons - but on Friday, May 15 from 9-11 PM ET, NBC News introduced viewers to the Farrah Fawcett who (was) is a fighter, when it broadcasts "Farrah's Story," an extremely personal look at her battle with cancer.  It was taped with her own home video recorder, "Farrah's Story" chronicles the actress' two and half year battle with cancer. Intensely intimate and emotional. This (was) is Farrah Fawcett's story in her own words as she explains her battle and her journey with cancer, and it is her narration that tells this story.

I am quite familiar with watching cancer ravage a spirit, mind & body when my maternal grandmother was diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer back in 1978, in the height of Fawcetts career as 'an angel'. The two people I was most fond of died at the same age two deacdes plus apart and again I have been catapulted back to feeling an extreme sense of loss. Although I never met Farrah Fawcett, I always followed her wonderful career. My grandmother never really liked the show itself but found Farrah to be very real in her performance both in Charlie's Angels and other things she played in. Her one time appearance in "The Partridge Family" episode of the shows second season, was classic 'blond joke material' and I not only found it outstanding but she shined as what could of been a 'moment of forever being ditzzy'; yet it was pure Farrah ! I am on a crusade now to get more information out onto the net about anal cancer and how to catch this deadly disease as early as possible. It is unfortunate that no matter how much money we have, how much faith we hold precious and how much willed strength to live is supplied, sometimes the disease wins and even if her physical lovely body is no longer a part of this realm, I truly believe she will help me help other women NOT go through what she did. I await her guided instructions . . .

Will forever love you angel . . .

"Dr" Mom

"I am past menopause & believe I have enough personal experience with it to enlighten on it. I was not afraid of memory loss but was more scared of how quickly it could deteriorate if I stopped exercising my brain." "A constant reader of mind-stimulating information--history, legend, even fiction, I am a sponge that is enthusiastic about teaching everyone around who asks of my knowledge, to share it as I do." (taken directly from interview with 'dr.mom' 2/8/06)

Does menopause affect memory ? Fuh and her colleagues studied nearly 700 pre-menopausal women living on a group of rural islands between Taiwan and China. The Taiwanese government restricted access to these islands until the 1990s, so the authors report that the study's population was nearly homogeneous, which would help rule out other potentially causative factors of memory loss. "For women, menopause does not mean you'll develop memory loss," said Dr. Raina Ernstoff, an attending neurologist at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. As you go through perimenopause, experiencing symptoms like hot flashes, you may feel lousy, have trouble sleeping, which might temporarily affect your cognitive skills.

Ever wonder why men seem to hold their liquor better than women? Women react differently to alcohol than men, studies show. Alcohol takes more of a toll on women physically, mentally and socially. They become intoxicated more quickly and do not absorb and metabolize alcohol the same way. Women have less water in their bodies than men, so the alcohol they take in is more concentrated.

Age enters the equation, too. Older women may find that drinking alcohol affects them more than it did when they were younger. Aging causes the amount of water in the body to decrease, making it harder for the body to metabolize alcohol.

Alcohol may hit women harder see more here . . . http://www.kansascw.com/Global/story.asp?S=10410617

A friend of mine on gather.com has a very experienced understanding of hormones and the aging body. "Hormones carry on working for us right throughout our lives in a variety of ways Unfortunaely, as we age, they begin to decline creating older looking skin, body tone, even our energy levels can be affected. If you think your hormone levels are decreasing, before doing anything, consult your medical care adviser and discuss various hormone replacement thereapies. To be knowledgeable, you should know before you go in order to discuss the various treatments available.

Living in Truth . . .Transpersonally

Quality of Life pooped on !

This is a pet peeve yet still highly relevant in getting attention. How do
you feel about your local list of dentists in your area, if you have seen
more than one, of course it makes this question easier to answer.

Past a 'free exam that icludes x-rays ($185.oo) removed from my bill
which came to almost $2100.oo with interest included, put their motto
'quality of living' in a bad light. A miserable truth--I would of had to pay
$55o.oo on the spot if they were to have the dental hygeinist continue.
The 'quality of my life' immediately dropped learning this procedure
for peridental disease, was that I shell out $550.oo I was heart-broken
that this system cares so little . . .

So again I ask, how is the treatment of patient to dentist in your area ?
