English Jumper

Current News

I finally jumped to 3 1/2 ft several months ago. It was cool. Also, I'm currently looking for a Thoroughbred to take me to a higher jumping level and who can jump higher than Beauty. I'm hopefully Lord willing going to be going to see a 16.1hh Thoroughbred mare this Saturday. If I get her, I'm going to name her Emerald Fire, and call her Emmy for short. My boyfriend is also looking for a Thoroughbred to ride Dressage and possibly jumping, and there's one at the ranch that might become mine and depending upon how well that horse can jump, my boyfriend might get that horse and I get Emmy or visa versa. We'll have to see.

About Me.

Hi, My name is Alaina and I'm an English rider. I only became a rider 5 years ago when I began taking western riding lessons and leasing horses at a nearby stable. I took lessons on other horses for a couple months, but then after leasing Scout, a 26 y/o paint horse. his owners gave him to me. I was thrilled to have my very own horse and I entered him in gymkhanas and a western pleasure show. He won several ribbons for me, and he was my best friend. However, later on he began acting scared or paranoid all the time, and with knee problems, it just wasn't working out anymore since I wanted to have a faster horse in Gymkhana. I gave Scout to a nice lady at the ranch, and after riding an excellant gymkhana horse, a bay Morgan named King, his owners gave him to me. I had King for several months and I really loved him. But because he was only serviceably sound, and I couldn't jump him or ride him too fast in gymkhana, I also gave him away to a good home so that I could get another horse that I could do more with. And that horse was Beauty, a crazy acting horse who avoided people at all cost. Walking toward her stall, she would flee to the opposite corner and in no way would come to you. She would pull back at the hitching post, attempt to spin or buck off her owner, and was afraid of blankets, fly spray, and water. Even though she was afraid of these things, I wanted a fast and sound gymkhana horse, so after my instructor spoke to the owners, they gave Beauty to me. It took lots of work, TLC, and most importantly prayer to become the great horse she is today. I still own her and hope to own her for many years. I can now put blankets on her, use flyspray, and give her baths. She still acts nervous sometimes; however, she is a great horse all in all and I love her. I mostly rider her english, but sometimes I will also ride her bareback.
