A Celebration of English Dialect in England

This website exists to encourage the literary use of traditional English Dialects. The vision is for it to allow people to express themselves in writing in their own traditional regional dialects, and as a place where poets and writers can share their work with the world! We believe that the distinct dialects of English spoken in England have been significantly eroded by the dominance of Standard English (Or recieved pronunciation) in the media and by the increased mobility of people throughout the 20th Century. 

Don’t worry, were not looking for a revolution! Languages and dialects are not fixed and of course are subject to change through the years. What we would like to acheive is a record of traditional English dialects before it’s too late! We are probably the last generation who will be able to remember older relatives who spoke with strong dialects, so lets write them down! Don't worry if you've never written a poem before, why not have a go?
