     Welcome to the unofficial site of Firehouse 13.  Firehouse 13 is one of 23 Firehouses in Lexington/Fayette County, housing Rescue Engine 13 and District Major 203.  Engine 13 serves the west side of Fayette County and operates in District Three.  Engine 13 is one of four Rescue Engine Companies in the city. 

    Engine 13 works as an Engine Co. in our 1st, 2nd and 3rd due response areas.  We operate as a Rescue Squad Co. for the following responses:  Building Collapse, Rope, Trench, Swift Water , and Confined Space Rescue throughout the Urban/County.  Upon the receipt of a Technical Rescue Incident the two closest Rescue Engines and Rescue 1 will respond.

    In addition the Rescue Engine companies are the Rapid Intervention Teams for the LFD and respond to all Structure fires.

August 2008

Aug. 14 - MVC w/ Entrapment @ Red Mile Rd. and Red Mile Ct. (1st) - Engine 13 responded to a reported vehicle accident with entrapment.  Rescue 1 was first on scene with one victim trapped.  Victim was extricated and transported to the hospital.  Assignment: E13, EC7, L2, 203, RS1 and 242. 

Aug. 11 - MVC @ Leestown Rd. and Greendale Rd. (1st) - Assignment: E13 and EC5. 

Aug. 8 - MVC @ Alexandria Dr. and Old Frankfort Pike (1st) - Assignment: E13 and EC6. 

Aug. 6 - Structure Fire @ 1493 Pine Meadow Rd. (2nd) - Engine 13 responded as the RIT company to a reported structure fire.  First arriving companies found a fire in the basement that was quickly extinguished.  Assignment: E14, E11, E6, L2, L4, EC5, 204, E13 (RIT,) 242, and RS1. 

Aug. 5 - MVC @ Leestown Rd. and Alexandria Dr. (1st) - Engine 13 responded to a MVC.  Assignment: E13 and EC6.  Added: EC5, 202, and 242. 

Aug. 1 - Structure Fire @ 1913 Cambridge Dr. (3rd) - Engine 13 responded third due to a reported structure fire.  Prior to arrival crews were advised of a possible trapped victim.  Engine 14, first due, discovered a small kitchen fire and had it quickly extinguished.  Companies remained on scene for overhaul.  Assignment:  E14, E11, E13, L4, L2, EC5, 203, E12(RIT), RS1, and 242.  Added: 204 and 400.

July Wrap-up:  Total Runs: Engine 13 - 152 (67 EMS, 85 Fire busy month for us)  ***Monday TRT had companies working on Trench Rescue scenarios.  ***It is once again promotional exam time.  Both firefighters and officers are hitting the books for the test in August.  ***Congrats to FF Poynter (2nd) on his new arrival.   

July 31 - Vehicle Fire @ 1000 Blk. Manchester St. (1st) - Passenger vehicle fire.  Assignment: E4 and E13. 

July 30 - MVC w/ Entrapment @ 100 Block Trade St. (1st) - Assignment: E13, EC5, L3, 203, RS1 and 242.  Add: E10. 

July 27 - MVC w/ Entrapment @ West New Circle Rd. and Newtown Pike (1st) - Companies responded to a reported MVC w/ entrapment.  Engine 13 was added to the run.  Assignment: E10, EC2, L3, 203, RS1, and 242.  Added: E13, EC5 and EC7. 

July 26 - Structure Fire @ 1511 Versailles Rd. (3rd) - High-rise response to a possible structure fire.  Engine 13 was first arriving and found it to be food on the stove.  Assignment: E14, E13, E11, E6, E12 (RIT,) L2, L1, RS1, EC5, EC6, 203, and 204.

July 25 - Structure Fire @ 240 Burke Rd. (2nd) - Right off the heels of the last reported structure fire Engine 13 added themselves to another in 13's first due.  Light haze of smoke was found in the residence traced to a piece of buring plastic.  Assignment: E1, E14, E5, L5, L2, EC1, 201, and E12 (RIT.)  Added:  E13, E8 and RS1. 

July 25 - Structure Fire @ 465 Georgetown St. (2nd) - Engine 13 responded third due with 203 to a reported structure fire.  First arriving companies quickly extinguished a small contents fire in a bathroom.  Assignment: E4, E1, E13, L1, L2, EC6, 203, E8 (RIT,) RS1 and 242. 

July 22 - Grass Fire @ Outer Loop of W. New Circle Rd. (2nd) - Engines 13 and 10 responded to a reported grass fire on New Circle Rd.  A small fire was found and extinguished.  Assignment: E13 and E10. 

July 21 - Structure Fire @ 485 W. New Circle Rd. (1st) - 203 and Engine 13, as the RIT company, responded to a reported structure fire.  Upon arrival crews found and quickly extinguished a fire in an exterior awning.  Assignment: E10, E2, E4, L3, L5, EC9, 203, E13 (RIT,) and 242.  

July 21 -  Airport Alert 2 @ Bluegrass Field (1st) - Engine 13 and other units responded for a reported aircraft in trouble.  Prior to companys' arrival the plane arrived without incident.  Assignment: E14, E20, E13, L4, L2, EC1, 204, RS1, HM1, and 242.

July 20 - Vehicle Accident/ Vehicle Fire @ Alexandria Dr. and Trailwood Dr. (3rd) - Engine 13 responded to a reported 10-46 (vehicle accident.)  Upon arrival found a passenger vehcile on fire.  Assignment: E13 

July 19 - MVC @ 2100 Block of Versailles Rd. (2nd) - Engine 13 and EC9 were dispatched on a subject down only to find a two vehicle MVC upon arrival.  Assignment: E13 and EC9.  Added: EC5, 204 and 242. 

July 17 - Structure Fire @ 214 Jefferson St. (3rd) - Engine 13 was added to a reported structure fire in a commercial structure on Jefferson St.  First arriving companies reported heavy fire and smoke conditions coming from a special effects company.  Fire was upgraded to a second alarm.  Assignment: E4, E1, E10, L1, L5, EC3, 203, E8 (RIT,) RS1, and 242.  Added: E13, 201.   

July 15 - Structure Fire @ 214 Lisle Industrial Ave. (1st) - A citizen walked into Station 13 reported smoke in a nearby building.  A full structure fire response was requested.  Upon arrival Engine 13 found light smoke conditions in a commercial occupancy.  Small fire was found and quickly extinguished.  Assignment: E13, E4, E10, L1, L2, EC6, 203, E8 (RIT,) RS1, EC5, and 242. 

July 13 - MVC w/ Entrapment @ South Yarnallton Pike and Leestown Rd. (2nd) - Engine 13 and 203 responded to a reported MVC with entrapment.  Upon arrival no entrapment.  Assignment: E13, EC6, L3, 203, RS1, and 242.  Added: EC5. 

July 13 - MVC @ Spring Valley Ln. and Buck Ln. (2nd) - Assignment: E13 and EC6. 

July 11 - Grass Fire @ 2500 Old Frankfort Pike (3rd) - Engine 13 repsonded to a grass fire.  Upon arrival found a small fire in a field.  Additional companies requested.  Assignment: E13.  Added: E14, BT1, and 203. 

July 8 - MVC @ 1500 Block of Leestown Rd. (3rd) - Assignment: E13 and EC6. 

July 6 - Vehicle Fire @ 2900 Blk. Masters View Rd. (1st) - Passenger vehicle fire.  Assignment: E13. 

July 6 - Gas Leak @ 900 Blk. of St. Martins Ave. (1st) - Engine 13 and 203 responded with other companies to a reported gas leak.  Hazmat monitors registered hazardous conditions.  Crews ventilated the building and shut off the utilities to eliminate the hazard until Columbia Gas arrived.  Assignment: E10, E13, L3, EC6, 203, and HM1. 

July 5 - MVC @ West New Circle Rd and Versailles Rd. (2nd) - Engine 13 responded as a special call to a reported truck overturned.  Assignment:  E20 and EC6.  Added: E13. 

July 4 - Standby Assignment @ W. Main St. and Cox St. (2nd) - Engine 13 had good seats for the Fourth of July fireworks display in downtown.  Engine 13, along with Ladder 2 and Brush Truck 1 had the cover assignment for the fireworks.  Engine 13 had the pit...no we did not get to fire any off.  :( 

July 2 - Vehicle Fire @ 2600 Blk. Buck Ln. (2nd) - Passenger vehicle fire.  Assignment: E13

June Wrap-Up:  Total Runs: Engine 13 - 137 (67 EMS and 70 Fire.)  District Major 203 - 130 (32 EMS and 98 Fire busy month for the Majors**LFD Rescue School finished up.  **Other than that not much happening.  **I did have a good vacation, as did most of second platoon who took most of the month off.  (Forgot to add the MVC we made this month...)

June 28 - Airport Alert 2 @ Bluegrass Field (Second Platoon) - Companies responded with Airport fire units to a small aircraft in trouble.  Plane landed without incident.  Assignment:  E14, E20, E13 L4, L3, EC9, 204, RS1, E12 (RIT), HM1, and 242.  Added: 203. 

June 15 - Vehicle into a Structure @ 141 Towne Center Dr. (First Platoon) - Engine 13 and 203 responded to a vehicle into a commercial structure.  The car went through a glass window with little damage to the structure.  Mitigated without incident.  Assignment: E13 and 203.

June 13 - Gas Leak @ 2516 Versailles Rd. (Second Platoon) - Companies responded to a reported gas leak caused from digging.  Mitigated without incident.  Assignment: E14, E13, L2, EC5, 203 and HM1. 

June 11 - Structure Fire @ 4928 Russell Cave Rd. (Third Platoon) - 203 and Engine 13, as the dedicated RIT, responded to a reported barn fire out in the county.  Assignment: E19, E8, E2, L5, L3, EC3, 203, E13 (RIT), and RS1.

June 6 - Structure Fire @ 303 Cranberry St. (First Platoon) - First platoon's busy day continued with a reported kitchen fire.  Engine 13, second due, and 203 responded.  The fire was found in the motor of the exhaust fan.  Assignment: E10, E13, E4, L3, L1, EC6, 203, E8 (RIT), and RS1. 

June 6 - Structure Fire @ 719 Combs St. (First Platoon) - Once again Engine 13 responded as  the dedicated RIT company to a reported structure fire.  Heavy smoke and flames were visible from an "abandoned" structure.  Assignment: E6, E5, E4, L2, L1, EC3, 205, E13 (RIT), and RS1. 

June 5 - Structure Fire @ 565 Patterson St. (Third Platoon) - Rescue Engine 13 responded as the dedicated RIT company to a reported structure fire.  First due companies reported heave fire conditions.  The structure required all companies for overhaul.  Assignment: E6, E4, E5, L2, L1, EC5, 205, E13 (RIT), and RS1. 

June 3 - Structure Fire @ 1151 Manchester St. (First Platoon) - 203 and Engine 13 responded to a reported shed on fire off the roadway.  Upon arrival they found that the shed was attached to a structure.  Engine 13 quickly extinguished the fire before additional companies were dispatched.  Assignment: E13 and 203.  Added: 700 and L3.
