Why is Wind Power better?

Wind energy is better because:

~         A good source of supplying energy to remote areas

~         Wind is a renewable resource of energy

~         Wind energy is very cheap aprox. 3 to 5 cents per kilowatt-hour

~         There can be a lot in a smaller area.

Why is Solar energy Better?

Solar Panels are better because:

~      Solar power can be used where there is no easy way to get electricity to a remote place

~         Good for uses such as solar powered garden lights and battery chargers

~         They last for a long time and need very little maintenance or supervision

What are the cons of solar and wind energy?

Solar Panels are worse because:

~         Doesn’t work at night

~         Doesn’t work in the winter unless snow is melted or removed

~         Very expensive to originally get Solar Panels

~         Solar Panels cost a lot compared to the amount of electricity they produce

~         They are unreliable unless you're in a very sunny climate unlike Canada where more Solar Panels are needed to produce the same amount of energy as in the Southern U.S.

~         A battery is needed if your home requires

The disadvantages of Wind Turbines:

~         The wind is not always predictable and some days have no wind.

~         Some people think Wind Turbines are ugly

~         Could kill birds

~         Can affect television reception for nearby homes

~         Noisy, wind generator make constant ‘swooshing’ noise day and night (more modern ones don’t)

~         You can only have them in flat areas so mountains can't block the wind.

~         Maximum capacity because the Wind Turbine could over heat

~         The generators can't withstand a lot of wind a one time because they will over heat

Which one is the best?

There are many advantages and disadvantages for each type of energy but the one that is most effective is wind energy. Wind energy is more efficent and more usable than sun energy. Wind energy is avalible anywhere there is wind while solar is only effective in places where there is much sunlight. Also solar energy cannot be created in the night or winter unless your solar panel is heated. Wind energy, while unperdicable can be created for long periods of time. Wind energy in also better because solar panels can't produce nearly as much energy as wind generators.
